Wild theory on how Dean’s soul is saved (again, no spoilers please): Okay so, it's not really a wild theory but one that I enjoy thinking about very much. Sammy goes darkside and rips open Hell, commanding the demon legions, and pulls Dean out himself. Recommend something in SPN fandom that all should know about: A friend and I are starting a Katie Cassidy fan community called cassidyconnect. It's not in the least bit ready yet, but it will be!
