so that Lost show...
So last year with the Lost death, I ended up getting spoiled by evil Good Morning America the next morning - because I had class and didn't have time to watch.
This year, knowing that "a character will be lost to us forever", I made damn sure to watch it right away on the Tivo. I hate being spoiled for things. Hate it.
First off, since I don't read spoilers...is shannon actually dead? Because at the end of the episode, I couldn't tell and this morning on the radio (the morning show does a Lost round-up every week), none of the djs or listeners were 100% sure Shannon was dead either.
1) Wasn't she shot in the gut? That's a very painful death. Painful and usually slow.
2) I don't understand why we would finally be given all this information about Shannon's background, why she tends to be a self-centered bitch, and finally see her worries forefront - why would we get all of that if they were going to kill her? Because even to propel Sayid's storyline it doesn't really make sense to me. I'll tolerate the deaths, even of characters I happen to love, if I understand why or it makes some sense.
3) They didn't technically say that anyone dies, but said, "someone will be lost to us forever." Couldn't it just be that Cindy chick? ::is optimistic about that dammit::
4) Wouldn't it be better served, more dramatic, to have Jack back in the predicament that sort of began Shannon's storyline - that he has to choose between saving her and/or Sawyer?
So, I'm not saying Shannon won't die (again, don't read spoilers), but it could just play out so much better.
The only thing I do like the idea of - Sayid is going to fuck Ana Lucia's shit up and I've been waiting for that day.
Because really...Shannon from the beginning was a bitch, but she was a likeable bitch. She occasionally did try to help out, and sometimes did let a more vulnerable side show. Whereas all they've managed to do is make Ana Lucia the most unlikeable character ever. And I love Michelle Rodriguez, so it's not the actress. It's the character.
I don't care how bad things are with the Others, she's just...gah.
What else? What else?
I like the Sawyer and Michael dynamic playing out. (Then again, I just love Sawyer - seriously, if they ever kill him off, I'll probably stop watching.)
The Walt stuff was creepy. Like back in the first episode, he was talking in Reverse. The radio show played the audio with it as it was on the show and then with it reversed. Very creepy. In the tent, he was warning Shannon that "They're coming, *they're* close." Though I'm not sure if he meant the Others or the group of passengers.
And is Walt doing the astral projection thing that DARMA talked about in their video as one of their projects? Obviously, in the tent he wasn't there...but was he there in the woods?
Anyway, if you want to hear the audio of Walt, go to http://www.prestonandsteve.com - it's on the main page if you scroll down just a little...it says "Lost - Walt's cryptic message reversed here for you! Added 11-10-2005"
Boone's hair was outta control, but fits with the flashback hair 'o doom motto of the show...and him standing by his stepfather's coffin saying, "Death sucks." Gah. Sometimes this show is uber creepy.
So let's talk about this episode, shall we...
To warn, people may put spoilers in the comments, so read at your own disgression for the time being.
