Remix Redux III...Reloaded - Recs Part 1

So I've started perusing this year's results for the Remix Redux III - Reloaded. First, I must state that I haven't stumbled upon a bad story in the lot that I've read thus far. Second, I haven't started the Harry Potter or X-Men categories yet so none of those recs at the moment.

1. A Shift In The Wind (the pretentious literati remix) – Alias. Okay so I'm a bit biased where this one is concerned as it's the remix of the story written for me. But it's just wonderful and much more potent than the version that I wrote. The author simply nails Sydney's voice and delves much further into her need for something more than her work.

2. Untitled (The Fountain of Decay Remix) - Alias. This story sorta hit me in the gut. It's extremely well-written and I loved the idea behind it.

3. Milo. Fucking. Rambaldi. (Expecting the Unexpected Remix) - Alias. First, it's an MPREG. But if that's not your cup of tea (which it usually isn't mine), get the bleep over it. Because this story is funny and charming and the Sark voice is dead on. Sark pregant = a good read.

4. Regrets (The Don't You Forget About Me Mix) - Charmed. Like I could not rec a Chris story for god's sake. But this story is an interesting idea of every action that Chris makes in the past and how some of it changes/some of it doesn't the future.

5. There Was Sand....In Places. (Doctor, Doctor Remix) - Lost - Jack/Boone - I'm a sucker for Jack POV stories, no matter who he's paired with because I just adore Jack. But this story is an interesting idea of how things have changed for him.

6. Homecoming (Down to the Sea Extended Trance Mix) - Pirates of the Caribbean - Will/Elizabeth. Elizabeth POV and this story is just freaking brilliant. The author nails the characters and the idea behind this story is just wonderful.

7. Candied Apples (no Point In Asking Remix) - Stargate Atlantis - Rodney - I guess there is the subtle Rodney/John in this, but it could just be viewed as friendship if one chose to...it's just an intriguing look inside Rodney's head and a little bit about his past.

8. Passing Over, Passing Out (the grape juice remix) - The O.C. - Seth/Ryan. This story is perfect for this fandom. Perfect voice. Perfect situation. Perfect everything. Plus, who can resist the idea of Seth drunk on Passover wine?

9. Perfection (Comparisons Are Odious Remix) - West Wing - Sam pondering life with the perfect boyfriend and why it's not enough. The best part of this story is the Josh/Sam banter. The Josh is this story makes me happy (okay most Josh makes me happy).

10. The Right Word (Snap) - West Wing, Sam/Josh. I love introspective Josh and a Josh trying to figure out exactly what Sam is to him is all the more endearing.

**

Okay, I tell myself, "Self, don't read all the stories in one day. Do other things." So I'm going to try to save the Harry Potter and X-Men for tomorrow and stuff. Try to get some beta work and writing done.

I love remixes! Whooo! This is the most fun since Yuletide Treasure!

You must!must!must! read the Joan of Arcadia story, Pilgrim Soul (extended unrequited remix) (http://remix.illuminatedtext.com/dbfiction.php?fiction_id=201). It is frankly amazing, just so visual and sad and alive. Lovely.

Oooh, I just read that and it was fabulous. Her relationship with god and then feeling like she lost it and looking for something else...just perfect.

Dude, I still don't understand how you signed up for a challenge and I didn't know. You can't do that, girl. You can't. You have to let me know so I can procrastinate with you, you know? Get desperate with you. *shakes head*

You can't do this anymore. Next time, let me know if there's a challenge out there. *g*

I know that I pimped this here in my journal when I signed up, silly. Hee. Or did I just pimp it over at my challenge community [livejournal.com profile] quillandink (which you should totally sign-up for because it's mine and stuff...wink, wink)

But from now on, I'll make sure you know which ones I'm doing. I swear!
