i think season 2 is skippable in its entirety. the very, very early episodes have some naley cuteness, but its all of the married variety and is thus inherently "meh."
there's also a fun episode where they visit the "what if" world where dan had married karen instead of deb...which is basically just a reshoot of the pilot with the characters switched? but there's lots of snarky in-comments for those who are obsessed with the show and know the ins and outs to laugh at the jokes. (i think its episode 20 or 21 -- "lifetime piling up." only one worth a download, i think.) other than that i can fill you in on anything you missed that would be relevant to season 3, if you like.
i wouldn't recommend that anyone sit through it. the new characters sucked, so thank god they were written out, all the plot twists were totally contrived (the marriage being the LEAST of worries) and everything that was good about the show went to pieces in the second season.
anyway, i'll let you know if the premiere was just a fluke or if the second episode is any good either that you should be lured back in to tivo-ing it. ;)
and so looking forward to the fic! my usual sources have dried up and there's seriosuly very little else for me to do with my time, here. :P
