It's flipping freezing in my house. But my sister and I are determined (or determined to try) to make it to November before turning on the heat, barring evil Day After Tomorrow type storming. However, sitting at my desk actually makes me think, "Snuggy not such a bad thing." Yeah, it's that cold.

**

I've finally managed to catch up and comment on my friends list for a few days. I apologize that I haven't been that active. I just started working out again a few weeks ago and trying to get my schedule figured out is really hard. Or I am just dead tired after work and exercise and life. I love Fall, but I think a weird sort of ennui sets in.

**

--I'm caught up on Castle. I love this show. I wasn't sure I would because the pilot last spring was not that great...but I'm glad I went ahead and watched past it. Sometimes it pays off (of course, sometimes it makes you cry). Spoilers for 2.3... )

--Watched the first episode of this season's Brothers and Sisters. Alas, only the first, but god, I love my Walkers and a party almost as much as I love Kevin and Scotty. No spoilers - all I will say is that Rebecca's dress for the engagement party was so beautiful. If only I had her body to wear such a thing. Now I just need to watch the next two.

--I love Glee. It makes me happy. It's a theater nerd's dream and just...love. And it makes me happy (if not surprised) that Fox gave it a real chance to grow. I like that they're starting to give a little more depth to Quinn beyond evil head cheerleader. And I continue to love Finn even if he's dumb as dirt. Because he's just so earnest about it. it's all so awesome.

--Have not watched Supernatural yet. I think I've developed some weird thing where I have to watch two episodes at once, as I did that for 5.1 & 5.2 and then 5.3 & 5.4. I need to get a multi-room dvr thing because it's in our main tv room and it's just not where I like to watch Supernatural. I can't explain it logically because it's beyond rational behavior. But I like my Sam and Dean time to be my happy place where I'm not judged for squeeing or being upset or basically hollering at the television. And my sister? She judges.

**

Have been thinking about [community profile] yuletide. Not just what to nominate, but what I would want to request and such. Greek? Glee? Harper's Island? Veritas the Quest? I'm a small fandom girl a lot of the time, so to narrow it down is quite hard for me.

What are some of you considering? I'm sure I'm forgetting things - I always do.

I'm pretty sure that's the only holiday challenge I'm signing up for this year. I'm not sure how I'm going to be around the holidays - it's the first one without my mom - so I don't want to extend myself. At the same time, I don't want to take away some of the stuff that's always made the holiday more enjoyable (like yuletide) so that I can just sit around in a fit of misery. Fun times. Though I wonder if "gotta read yuletide archive" will get me out of the 10,000 pity-holiday-dinner-invites I've already received. Must contemplate.

**

I'm hoping this weekend to get caught up on some reading of fanfic so that I can continue with the reccing that I used to do. I'm pretty sure Steph is going to have me murdered soon.

Have a good one!
tommygirl: (supernatural - dean/car otp)
Today was a very long day. Work is continuing on down crazy road and then I got to leave work early to do a bunch of errands that I've been putting off.

On the brightside, I got to watch last night's Supernatural.

Lots of spoilers and talk of the episode... )

**

All I will say about project runway is that I really hate Kenley. She's just such a brat. And yet, I enjoy a lot of her designs.

So are [livejournal.com profile] neversince and I the only ones watching and enjoying Privileged? I really like the main character, Megan. She's quirky and smart and yet always puts her foot in her mouth. Mostly, I love her relationship with her best friend, Charlie (who is ADORABLE). And I have a HUGE best friends become more love! Maybe I'll nominate that for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide too!
tommygirl: (michael phelps & ryan lochte - hug)
Happy Supernatural Day, my friends!

Does anyone know if the rumors I've heard are true? Is SPN airing at 8pm because of the debate? That would be awesome because otherwise I won't get to see it until tomorrow. I figure I'm safe because I dvr Smallville (one of those things I often say, "I wish I knew how to quit you" about), but I'd love to watch it. This will come as a surprise, but I'm a tad bit obsessed with the Winchester boys.

Not more than politics though. And I want Joe Biden to call Sarah Palin out on every lie and half truth and idiotic comment she has made. She is just...I'm not Republican, but surely there was an actual qualified woman who could have been McCain's running mate. Palin is just an insult to women and either a liar or crazy to boot. So yes, Joe, crush her!

**

I think I want some Samantha Who fic for [livejournal.com profile] yuletide! Or Dirty Sexy Money. Or road to avonlea.

I can't believe it's already almost time for Yuletide and holiday exchanges. Where has the year gone?

Also, since only a small number were interested in the Sports Night Holiday Exchange, I've decided to combine forces with [livejournal.com profile] larah33. Sports Night will become a part of the [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolfic holiday exchange. that way Sports Night can still play and people can get that fic...but I'm not running a whole exchange for seven people (though I would if people really want it. I'm a sucker like that.).
tommygirl: (entourage - hug it out)
Friday is here! Weekend is almost upon me! And I have no real plans aside from continuing with unpacking and doing some reading/writing.

**

I can't believe it's almost October. In two weeks it's birthday weekend for Mylia and I get to hang out with some of my favorite people. Then the following weekend is [livejournal.com profile] winchestercon. Alas, I can still only make it for Saturday, but I would love to meet some of you for lunch and/or dinner! I really wanted to do the whole shebang, but this owning a house thing ate up alot of my money and I can't really afford a hotel in Baltimore, no matter how much I want to. Stupid mortgage and growing up!

But yes, dear friends list, those going to [livejournal.com profile] winchestercon, let me know if we can meet up! I love you guys and want to hang!

Also, [livejournal.com profile] pheebs1 and [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 are helping me with [livejournal.com profile] win_non_con this year, but if any of you aren't going to the actual con and can help with the online version, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm hoping this weekend to get together the itinerary.

**

And on the topic of Supernatural...let's talk last night's episode.

There will be spoilers...you are warned... )

Note: As long as you don't share spoilers with me (beyond the preview that's aired), I'm up for any discussions. I tend to squee, but I have no problems if people have issues so long as we all play nice.

**

I finally watched the summer finale of Burn Notice. All I will say is thank GOD it's coming back in January! And I love Michael! And I love Sam! And I love Fi! And I love Michael and Fi! And...such a good show.

**

Yesterday I asked for first lines and I would write ficlets. It's not too late to play, so long as I know the fandom. I'm not doing them in any order. Mostly going with whatever strikes my muse. I really need to do some writing.

**

Finally, will the debate happen tonight? I was all excited it for it before McCain started pulling this stuff. I want my nerdy goodness, dammit.
tommygirl: (supernatural - hugging)
Friday is here! Friday is here! I am so ready for the weekend!

**

Let's cut right to the chase. Supernatural is back and I love our boys.

Spoilers for last night's episode... )

**

Not much else to report. I'm attempting to write a Coda/ficlet based around the episode. Also, I had this idea for an AU from this first episode.

I'm going to read the reaction posts on my friends list - wanted to get mine out first - and then I'll see if I can get some writing done.

Yay! Supernatural is back!
tommygirl: (supernatural - brothers wrestling)
New supernatural is so very close. I already told the sister that I got the media room tomorrow at 9pm to watch my boys in HD. And that I didn't want her to watch with me because she just doesn't get my love of them. SPN is one of those shows I only like to watch with people who love it as much as I do...because my squeeing and ahhing and obsessively caring about fictional characters is understandable.

I'm beginning to think I should make a list of things NOT to do with your resume when applying for a job. I've been getting in a ton of resumes for one of our positions to go through and some of them just shock me. One person took an old resume and scribbled in her current job at the top.

What? That's just LAZY. Retype the whole resume with the new information.

And spellcheck. Not just the resume, but the cover letter.

I really didn't think these things were hard to understand.
tommygirl: (dexter - brothers)
This day is going way too slow. What is it about Tuesdays at work that simply drag on? I just really don't like it.

**

When you see this, quote Supernatural in your journal.

Dean: Bitch.
Sam: What're you calling me a bitch for?
Dean: You're supposed to say "jerk."
Sam: What?
Dean: Never mind.

Only two days left until we have new Supernatural. I'm unspoiled and cannot wait for the first episode of the season. I really do love our boys so very much.

**

There used to be a time when I could not only write frequently, but write long pieces. Nowadays, it's mostly a short story or random scene. I miss being able to put together long, drawn-out stories that (hopefully) come together.

Finally, I leave you with a picture of one of my birthday presents. I have two new kitties!

Dexter & Brian (aka Ice Truck Killer). Dexter is the baby who sometimes needs a helmet. Brian is the orange tabby/older brother who I think rolls his eyes a lot at Dexter.
tommygirl: (blade trinity - king)
I can return to livejournal now that I've seen the last three episodes of Supernatural (including the finale). I'll have thinky thoughts and squee and such to follow when I'm not high on allergy meds and can make sense. In the meantime, I'll just reiterate that I love our boys. Sam and Dean are so wonderful.

I also watched the last two episodes of Brothers & Sisters. This show continues to make me so happy. Spoilers for the finale... )

Next up on my list of shows to get caught up on: NCIS and Ugly Betty. It will happen soon, I hope.

**

For now I'm going to attempt to catch up on the friends list and read some fic before falling asleep. Monday is upon me and with that comes work.
tommygirl: (supernatural - hugging)
Happy Supernatural Day, my darlings! I hope it is fabulous and does not break our hearts (oh Sammy, oh Dean). Alas, I won't be watching this one (or the last two that aired) until this weekend, so if I'm avoiding livejournal tomorrow, it's because of that.

Tonight the Flyers play and they MUST win or they will have been swept by the Penguins. And that would make me sad.

**

I hear there is wankage between Twilight and Harry Potter fandoms, which just makes me roll my eyes. I happen to like both Harry Potter and Twilight and neither are the most well written books in the history of the world. But they both have highly addictive storylines that sucked me in.

I guess I'll never understand why people have to put down those that like things that they don't. It's one thing to be vocal about your hatred of a book/show/etc, but to make it seem like anyone who likes it is a moron serves no real purpose. Life is way to short to be worrying about things like this. Lordy.

**

I feel like there was something else I wanted to mention, but it's completely disappeared from my mind. Is this a sign of getting old?
tommygirl: (chuck - nerd herd)
I want to take a moment to wish a Happy Mother's Day to all the moms on my friends list. Y'all rock and I'm in awe of you.

**

I still haven't seen the last two episodes of Supernatural. I don't know what's wrong with me. I want to watch it, but at the same time, I'm getting worried about the last few episodes (as this Thursday is the finale, right?). I guess I'm prolonging it, though I'm not sure why. It's on my Tivo and I've had some time this weekend, but I chose Numb3rs and Step It Up and Dance (which I now have my sister addicted to).

I am a broken SPN fan! This is so sad.

**

So fingers crossed for me. I have a second interview for a position this coming Tuesday afternoon. After everything that went down when I was sick, I decided that it was time to start looking for a new job. I'm fortunate that I have a steady position currently and can take my time to find the right fit. This job sounds rather interesting and there appears to be room to grow within the company...I guess we'll see.

**

Flyers play tonight. Here's to hoping they kick some Penguins butt and tie up the series at one a piece. As all the radio/tv people are saying, the Flyers haven't won a first game in a series during the playoffs, so why start now? Le sigh. We'll see. Personally, I think my boys just like to test my patience.

oh sammy

It's Sam Winchester's birthday!

Give me some Sam (or Sam/Dean) birthday prompts and I'll see what I can do.
tommygirl: (brothers & sisters - tequila)
I'm slipping in my Supernatural obsessive love lately. Last week I didn't see the episode until Saturday and this week I might not get to watch it until then either. Normally, I start it at 9:20pm, late enough that I can watch without commercials...but the past two weeks, I'm either exhausted or watching the Flyers fuck up the last period of their play-offs game.

Yes, that's right. I love Flyers hockey more than Sam and Dean. I think it's because I've been a Flyers fan since the womb and Sam & Dean have only been around for three years. It's a dedication thing.

**

I'm hoping to do some writing this weekend. The last few weekends I've been hoping to do such things, but then I end up doing more house hunting and/or having flat tires and other fun things. And I'm so behind on the writing. And so out of ideas/talent/any ability whatsoever.

I really suck. My life has just been crazy in the non-good ways and it's affected my writing. ::Cries::

**

Any of you guys going to Winchestercon in Baltimore? Last year was a lot of fun and hanging with fangirls was awesome. I admit, I was a bit wary of what I was walking into, but it was so worth it.
tommygirl: (heroes - nathan & peter)
I have not seen Supernatural yet as the Flyers were playing and actually doing well (until the third period where they like to test my patience)...plus, it seems that my cable was on the fritz so the sound was messed up. Downloading at home while I'm at work and tonight I shall watch it after I return from girl's night out with my friends. That said, I'll probably be skimming the friends list today to avoid spoilers.

**

In the meantime, I shall pimp:

1) [livejournal.com profile] claudiagray is an author, who has a new vampire series of books coming out. They sound fabulous. And in honor of the upcoming release, she is running a contest where you tell her about your favorite vampire.

It can be Edward Cullen from Twilight or Julian from Kindred or Selene from Underworld...any other vampire that you love. Just share with her why you love him/her.

And if you win, you'll receive an ARC of Evernight! So be sure to check it out! I know I have a lot of readers on my friends list, especially those who love fantasy, so this might be right up your alley.

2) My darling wifey, [livejournal.com profile] larah33, is running and Old School Ficathon over at [livejournal.com profile] oldschoolfic. The definition of old school for this is more like neglected fandoms that have been replaced for the new shinier ones. It looks to be fun and there is currently a poll going to choose fandoms for the challenge. She is accepting suggestions, so if you think Party of Five should be included, get a whole bunch of Po5 fans to suggest it/play!

3) [livejournal.com profile] romanticalgirl's monthly ficathon challenge is the You Don't Bring Me Flowers Challenge-a-Thon.

4) Supernatural Summer 2008 Gen Fic Exchange - Supernatural, taking sign-ups until May 15th

5) Because We're Awesome Drabble-a-thon is still going on.

6) The [livejournal.com profile] occhallenge has relaunched as a prompt table community so go make a claim and check out the fic.

7) Finally, I'm still taking prompts for ficlets a I need to write more.
tommygirl: (Default)
Happy Supernatural Day, my darlings! Tonight's looks to be angstapalooza (based only on the preview - I know no spoilers and would like to keep it that way please) and oh Sammy & Dean! I love them so much! Alas, I might not get to watch the episode until tomorrow because of Flyers hockey, but happy SPN day all the same! I'll probably just skim over any episode reviews tomorrow until I've seen it.

**

I want to thank y'all for the hugs and good thoughts from last night. I'm actually doing a bit better now with the pain killers and such. I'm at work and it's not too bad (though I'm having a hard time focusing on work) so I can't complain. Still a step above the evil pneumonia.

**

Anyone want to throw some prompts at me? I'm having such trouble with my writing lately. I'm not promising anything amazing or profound or very long, but I'll do my best. Though, I will say the schmoopier the prompt the better as that is how my mind works best.

Fandoms: Supernatural, Jared/Jensen RPS, Heroes, Charmed, Roswell, Sports Night, West Wing, Alias
tommygirl: (supernatural - sammy smile)
Happy Supernatural Day! There will be new Sam and Dean on our television screens tonight! This can never be a bad thing. Because even the not-so-great episodes of Supernatural (Route 666, Bugs) are still better than a lot of the crap out there. And I say this as a girl who watches most of the said crap.

My Twilight Friends: Anyone know anything about her new, non-twilight verse book? Of course, I will buy it no matter what, but anyone have any information?

My sister's co-worker is now on the periphery of Twilight fandom as she is quite addicted to the books and is already planning for me and my sister to go with her to opening night of the movie (which duh, of course, I will be there). It's awesome.

**

Our marketing director cut off the top of his thumb and my coworkers are all looking around his office for the part he cut off. I think I am going to be sick. just the thought...ICK! I need Dean Winchester to come hold me and save me from the grossness.
tommygirl: (boondock saints - connor & murphy)
Supernatural was awesome last night. I love all the small things that Jared and Jensen do with their characters. Sam and Dean are just so connected. More coherent thoughts will come when I'm not high on codeine.

Currently, home sick, panicking about what's waiting at work from the past two days at the office and dying of sinus plague. On the brightside, I've spent the last two days watching all of season one of Silver Spoons. Oh, I love this show. I used to adore Ricky Schroeder. He's hotter now, but Republican, so I'll stick with my love of him on this show. And first season has Jason Bateman, which is just double fun. Good stuff.

**

So who out there watches Make me a Supermodel? I haven't seen last night's episode yet, but last week's episode. Perry is hot, but not only is he a jackass, but he's a SCARY jackass. Him on the phone with his girlfriend? Whoa. "I'm not hanging up until you tell me you love me and we'll be together forever." Um...please back off, creepy hot boy.

And, for my other Bravo show, Project Runway, spoilers from Wednesday's episode... )

**

To those I owe betas and other things, I'm going to try to work on it this weekend. I'm sorry for so many delays. Life has been crazy and filled with lots of interesting predicaments. On the workfront, we seem to have found a temp that has a brain, so I'm hoping that when I go in next week, she's still there. On the personal front, eh, slowly but surely.
tommygirl: (supernatural - the boys (promo))
I am still recovering from last night's Supernatural. I just love our show and today I was surrounded with people who just don't understand the love. And the obsession with the Winchester brothers. Obviously, they are the insane ones.

I need people to point me in the direction of Spoilers for last night's Supernatural... )

**

My review of the episode will come when I can think straight about it. Right now I'm going to shower and then watch some Nick Swardson comedy with the boy.
tommygirl: (supernatural - dean (five minutes))
So usually the only thing that I crosspost from my livejournal is fic, but I wanted to open this idea up to as many people as possible.

One of the challenge ideas that I've had recently...since we will soon be out of new Supernatural (::cries::), I was thinking about rewatching the episodes, but then I was thinking how much I sometimes love to read people's snarky commentaries, even when (especially when) I adore the canon. So I was wondering if people would be interested in a community where people sign up for an episode of Supernatural and watch it/do commentary in the style of Mystery Science Theater.

[Poll #967]
tommygirl: (joa - quotes)
I'm not really sure where my Saturday went. I ran a few errands, watched a few of the things kicking it on my dvd-r, and now it's ten in the evening. I've been watching my Wonderfalls dvds on my lunch and I really want some little inaminate objects with faces talk to Dean.

Little Wax Lion - let the girl go
Dean: But she's a demon
Little Wax Lion - let the girl go
Dean: son of a bitch (lets go of the girl)

**

[Poll #1132149]
tommygirl: (the notebook - the kiss)
I don't mean to neglect this journal. I really enjoy Insanejournal, but I'm completely terrible with doing the duplicate entries and I don't always have access to the program for it anyway. And then there's the fact that work has been kicking my butt the past month.

**

When do we get some new Supernatural? I know with the writer's strike there aren't a lot left, but I need some Dean and Sam Winchester. I'm obsessed. I accept this. I think about those boys a whole lot more than will ever be deemed healthy, but I'm okay with it. And I need my fix.

**

Writing this month has not been happening. I want to entirely blame work and the fact that I'm exhausted when I get home, but I'm also feeling drained and uncreative. I want to write some Alice/Jasper from Twilight. I have a table of prompts to do for them, so I really should try it. I want to write some Ellie/Captain Awesome from Chuck because they are adorable. And then, like the crazy person I am, I signed up to do Supernatural Big Bang.

My reasoning seemed sound at the time. Back when I started with fanfiction, I used to write longer type pieces all the time. It was all I really did and then I got out of that practice...I'm still wordy as hell, but not quite in the way I used to be able to come up with ideas, plan, and write. SO I wanted to make sure that I could still do it.

Except now I'm panicking and it's not even officially underway. Go me?

Anyway, feel free to hit me with prompts of any fandoms that I know and I'll try to do them. I'm not making any promises, but I need to do something to get my writing brain moving again. So prompts! Please!
