“Come on, come on..” Twelve year old Dean chanted, keeping vigil in front of the television set. “Get to the school closings already. Please, let school be closed tomorrow!” He crossed his fingers.
“No way!” Sam said from his position on the couch, as he looked up from his copy of “The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe”. “I’ve got a spelling test tomorrow!”
“Don’t be such a ginormous dork.”
“I’m not a dork, I just like school.”
“Like there’s a difference?”
“Well….”
“Shhh!” Dean put his hand over his brother’s mouth as the familiar face of the weatherman came on screen. A map of counties in the local area was behind the weatherman; some highlighted in blue, which meant that school would not be in session in that locality the next day.
Their county was highlighted.
“Yes!” Dean threw his hands up in the air in triumph. “Freedom!” He turned to Sam. “Don’t worry, dork wad, the test will still be there once the snow melts!” He bounced out of the living room.
“I know that.” Sam huffed, before turning his attention back to his book.
