So I'm having that moment of "what the hell have I gotten myself into" with this April Fool's Challenge, but really, it's a good thing. 1000 words most days throughout April is *not* that hard if I just get some discipline and sit down and write (disconnect my internet accesss, no visiting livejournal...).

My plan is to finish up WIP chapters (TIMH *will* be out, I swear!), birthday stories, Steph's story that only needs a beginning page, and ficathon works. And of course, my first review for [livejournal.com profile] plan_9_from_lj.

I think I can do it.

I keep reminding myself, "Self, I will not discuss politics in this journal...I will not..." but sometimes it gets really hard. Sometimes I worry about this country and what/how it decides to pick/choose one cause over another.

But I will not talk politics in this journal. I'll save it for my regular journal...

TV Ramblings:

--Tru Calling was great last night. I truly adore this show and just wish that FOX hadn't screwed it over. I really should know better than to get attached to Fox shows (Firefly, Wonderfalls) because they're never marketed properly and often put in timeslots of death.

But it's just...I never know who to route for. I love Tru (and of course, the Tru/Harrison sibling relationship rocks) and I know that she's just trying to do what's asked of her, but I understand Jack's POV. Things happen for reasons and if you mess with fate, other things can happen that shouldn't. Like all those people's lives that she saves end up going onto affecting numerous lives...is it always in a good way?

And I just love that there isn't a black-and-white villain of the show.

--Tonight is the big Battlestar Galatica night and I can't wait. Last week was very intriguing, left me unable to think properly, and I'm sure this week will cause much the same reaction.

--I'm way behind on most television. It sits on my TIVO, beckoning to me to watch, but I just haven't had the time. Hopefully this weekend with the boy in California for work and me making no plans (aside from seeing Clive in sin city) I'll be able to get caught up.

To warn...I'm bored, but at work, caught up on everything I need to be, and that could mean that I post a bit. I'll try to behave and it won't really be memes as much as ponderings...

But in the meantime, be aware that [livejournal.com profile] xmmficathon is open for Round 2 of the X-Men Movieverse Ficathon. Last year produced so many amazing stories and I got the chance to write John/Bobby fluff per request! How can one go wrong?

The surefire sign that you've ingested too much sugar and have way too much time on your hands? You find yourself playing a game of "Red Light, Green Light" in your office hallway with a co-worker.

Yes, I'm *really* busy, can't you tell?

I should probably take advantage of this and say...write my [livejournal.com profile] crossficathon story, but it's just being very difficult. I don't want it to suck. I want it to be readable, dammit.

So with the Remixes being completed and revealed last week, I've seen a lot of discussing on them in various journals. Of course, this got me to thinking and of course I need to share my two cents with y'all.

I think of the Remix Redux as a fun exercise and a bit of a challenge. I don't see myself as in competition with either the writer I'm remixing or the writer who remixed my own story and I don't understand why others would view it that way if they sign up to participate.

I can understand being a bit leary of having someone else fiddle with a story that you're very attached to, but to participate and then decide that it seems like a competition is the wrong way to think of it. That's like saying that every other story in your pairing that's produced is in competition with yours. And I don't view fandom that way. I don't like getting caught up in number games or how many responses I got while someone else got this many because it's all so very arbitrary.

I guess there will always be those people out there who like to complain about things, who worry so much about his/her own story that they can't see a remix for what it's supposed to be - an interesting challenge, a story that makes your own story all the more enjoyable.

For the record, I personally loved and adored the remix of my story. I thought it delved so much further into Sydney's head than I even attempted to and that it only made my story the better if you read the remix. And I'd hate to think that the person whose story I remixed thought I did her a great diservice or anything of that nature.

Okay, must get this crossficathon piece done! Eeek!
