tommygirl: (house - alienate)
how much do I love my new 140 hour TIVO. I mean, our other one, which is now in the sister's room, was great and wonderful and lasted a very long time (it still works), but it was one of the first models and only held 30 hours of time at its most basic.

::hugs her tivo::

::Wonders if she is crazier than she originally suspected::

**

For all my Charmed girls out there, question regarding the finale:

I'm cutting away in case people haven't seen it yet... )

I haven't seen 24 yet, but otherwise, I'm up-to-date on all my finales for the season. I'm waiting for the sister to watch the new QAF, hoping it's goodness and lots of hot Brian Kinney. Really, he just has to be on the screen and I'm a happy girl.

**

Today I must finish my story for the Jack/Sawyer/Kate Ficathon. It's in a really rough place right now (dirty! but not!), so it needs a lot of work before tomorrow's deadline. Must. Finish. Story.

I will not sign up for any more ficathons until yuletide...that is my new goal. I will do the ones I've signed up for already, but I need a break. It's my own fault. They're all so appealing and I have an addiction, but no more! [livejournal.com profile] sdlucly said so!

**

Speaking of, had fun conversations with both [livejournal.com profile] sdlucly and [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy last night. I'm trying to get [livejournal.com profile] sdlucly to write a Seth/Ryan piece where they go see the new Star Wars and Seth compares Marissa to the dark side. Hee. I even helped with some possible dialogue. So let's all bug her to write it!

And Steph had to explain CSI world to me so that I could properly beta her CSI fic...and now, she's made me a shipper on a show that I don't even watch. I don't know if that proves her brilliance or her evilness. Maybe both.

**

I think this is the last of the interview questions, but really, feel free to ask away if so inclined... )

It's a Tuesday, I'm procrastinating, so be warned that there may be a few more posts throughout the day.

But, for the meantime, I shall bid you adieu.

some recs

[livejournal.com profile] trollprincess declared it fic rec day! So I must oblige. Besides, these stories are just too good to be passed up at the moment.

Leaving Me Here On My Own - Veronica Mars, Logan/Veronica by [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess - It's set after season 1 ends - so there be spoilers if you're not caught up. But it's excellent fic set in the aftermath.

Pure luck - CSI, Nick/Greg by [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy. Yeah, I'm her beta and probably biased, but really good story. I don't even watch the show and I'm all invested now. Dramatic without being overly so. And now she has me wanting to read more Nick/Greg, damn her. Also set after season finale, so you're warned!

Church of What's Happening Now - RPS, Hayden/Ewan with some Jude Law thrown in for good measure by [livejournal.com profile] hackthis. Set during filming of ROTS. It's funny and sweet and Hayden's pining is actually adorable.

Okay, this one isn't a fic rec, but [livejournal.com profile] mistful once again proves her brilliance with a review of the new star wars movie. Warning: If you don't want any spoilage for the movie until you see it, don't read this until then. But bookmark it for later because it's hysterical.

fandom fun

Why, why, why are neither Jack or Sawyer being nice to me and letting me write them properly? Yeah, they want to point out that I only pay attention to them when I'm absolutely bored or have procrastinated until the last second. Well, boo hiss, can I help it if I'm so damn fickle?

I forget whose journal I saw this in, but I felt like doing it, while I let Jack and Sawyer stew for a bit.

1) Total number of fandoms I like: Jeebus uh...

There are quite a few. Though the ones I follow seriously would probably number about 3.

2) My first fandom ever: Before or after I knew what "fandom" was? Because I loved Party of Five something awful, but didn't really spend time on my computer back in the day for anything aside from classwork. First real fandom was Nsync.

3) My most recent fandom: Veronica Mars

4) Five fandoms that currently mean a lot to me: with explanations

Harry Potter - I love this world. The books are so wonderful. I love most of the characters, I love the world Rowling created, and I just love everything about the canon (while aside from all the adverbs she uses, but that's just my own personal issue). And then there are so many talented writers in the fandom that just take this world to so many new and imaginative places. It's just a lot of fun to read and embrace these characters even more.

Charmed - I have a thing for angst and supernatural. The two of them combined is what I love about a lot of good Charmed fic. I admit that I mostly stick to adult chris and adult wyatt fic, but I love the sisters dearly, especially when they are well-written. And the show, it's hanging on for another year (though maybe it shouldn't), but I'm holding out for my spin-off.

Pop - It's where I got my start and made some incredible and wonderful friends that are still in my life. It's the reason I'm "broken" according to my friends and started writing fanfiction. It gave me a place to try different things with my writing that I might not have tried otherwise. And they are still my boys who dance and sing happy pop songs that I play loudly in my car to keep from experiencing road rage. I love them so, no matter what. It's an illness really.

Alias - It's got Sydney and Spy!Daddy and it's a kick-ass show made by people who admit when they've messed up a bit. It's got a bit of the supernatural interwoven at times into its kick-assery and really, a show with Sark is a show to watch. And read about. As long as it's not Vaughn-centric. Okay, that's a lie. I'll still read Vaughn-centric though others are preferable. It's one of those worlds where you love all the characters, even those you hate and don't trust (like Sloane), and even when it's not at its greatest, it's still better than a lot of the stuff out there.

Buffy - Aside from Nsync, it was my first fandom and the love I have for the show and its universe knows no bounds. It's weird that it hasn't waned, even after it's been off the air for two seasons now...but I just love it. The characters, the writing, the people I've met via a shared love of it.

5) Tag 5 people to put this in their journal:

Really anyone can do it, but uh...[livejournal.com profile] ladybug218, [livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger, [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy, [livejournal.com profile] nowastedspace, [livejournal.com profile] sdlucly

Okay, back to writing. For real. I mean it. This is me forcing self to do some Jack and Sawyer writing.
