I get the feeling that there's a lot more to what actually happened when Jo's Dad died that we don't know. Hell, Ellen might not even know.
I don't think Jo's anger at the boys is lasting. We don't know exactly what Mary said, and I'd imagine that Jo is angry and hurt at her mother, and this revelation is totally different that the story she's always known. I really saw it as Dean bearing the brunt of Jo's anger, not because he deserves it, but because HE was there.
I think that knowing the truth might also cause Jo to grow up a little.
