TW is a darker show and the characters have more... adult, I guess, layers that sometimes make my blood boil. That makes a whole lot of sense, actually. Problem for me, I think, is it doesn't always make my blood boil in a good way. I have this huge, not quite rational hate-on for Owen. He's a very human, arguably malicious character -- marvelously done -- but the fact that everyone seems to think he's such hot shit is one of the things that makes it hard for me to get into the show.
Liked Gwen to start with, but she keeps losing points. I just... they keep making her do things that make it difficult for me to accept her as the "goodness and light of humanity" part of the ensemble that they want her to be. She's crossed lines, y'know? Which again, totally human, totally well done -- but makes it difficult for me to get attached. I love Toshiko, though. More of her and less with the whole being-in-love-with-Owen problem (I haven't yet watched most of S2 yet, admittedly) and I think I could really adore this show.
