Friday is here! Friday is here! I am so ready for the weekend!

Let's cut right to the chase. Supernatural is back and I love our boys.
Episode 4.1 - Lazarus Rising
I liked how the first bit was all from Dean's perspective. That the audience goes through the confusion of what's going on right with him. From waking up in the dark casket (how convenient there is a lighter in his pocket!), to digging his way out, to the abandoned area and trying to make sense of how he got there.
I love that Bobby hangs up on him and gets really angry about the calls. Because Bobby and Dean really are like father/son and losing Dean wasn't just hard on Sam (and maybe Dean is finally going to see that people need and miss him? I can hope.)
Scene with Bobby was awesome. The fighting, the confused acceptance, and then the holy water in his face. I loved that moment - the look on Dean's face was priceless.
I love that even after being dead and out of the picture, he still knows Sam so well that he's able to locate him.
And then there was the bestest scene in all of bestest scenes!
The look on Sam's face was just so perfect. And Dean's reaction. And then the attacking him only to realize it was really Dean, his Dean. It was so...gah. And the hug. I love it when these two boys actually hug and cling to one another. And the comment about them being "together."
I think what I love and hate about this episode is how there is something off between Sam and Dean that comes from being apart for months. Sam doesn't tell Dean about Ruby and using his abilities...Dean doesn't tell Sam that he and Bobby are summoning whatever brought him back. And while I hate them doing their own things (because it leads to trouble), it makes sense. Sam has been on his own for months and Dean has always been about protecting Sam above everything.
I wasn't spoiled, but once we knew it wasn't Sam who got Dean back, I pretty much guessed (hoped) it was the good side. Because they've been hinting at that since the very beginning with Dean "sleeping with angels" and in Faith when God has a purpose for him. It makes sense in the story arc. It also makes horribly, tragic sense in the idea that Sam, despite wanting to do good, is heading down a dangerous path with a demon sidekick...and along comes an angel with an order to save Dean because he has a destiny.
And it also works because you can't just have evil with no good. There has to be balance.
And mostly, I love that because of Dean's own lack of faith in the good, in believing he deserves the good, he couldn't hear/see the angel as he was meant to (but that's okay because the guy playing the angel was HOT! And there should be fic with Dean/Angel, and throw in jealous!Sam and I'm all over it like whoa).
The new Ruby? I like her so far. I'm not sure I understand the sudden emotional side to her about not wanting to come between Sam and Dean and telling the truth and all that. That seems weird. But I'll go with it, for now.
I think this episode opens up wonderfully for what could be an amazing season. I can't wait to see what comes...but in the meantime, I'll just watch the Sam & Dean reunion scene over and over.
Anyone willing to make me an icon of Sam & Dean in that moment? I'd love you forever!

Not much else to report. I'm attempting to write a Coda/ficlet based around the episode. Also, I had this idea for an AU from this first episode.
I'm going to read the reaction posts on my friends list - wanted to get mine out first - and then I'll see if I can get some writing done.
Yay! Supernatural is back!
