It's time for yuletide again! Super excited! And below is my long-winded yuletide letter. Take one year off of the challenge and suddenly I felt confused and overwhelmed by my sign-up and letter. Oh my brain is a scary place.

I do love all the fandoms I requested!

Dear Yuletide Writer,

Thank you for the story you're about to write for me! I have to admit I’m always terrible with these letters because I really want to help, not hinder any writing. I know it’s a gift for me (and again, thank you), but I want you to have fun writing it (after the initial hair pulling that a lot of us do), so please take all of this with a grain of salt. I love the fandoms and characters I requested and I will love anything that’s created.

So the basics: I’m storydivagirl on LJ and tommygirl on DW. I’m maredarlin on twitter and I have a tumblr -http://destinyisdeafening.tumblr.com/ - but I’m more of reblogger of things when the whim hits me rather than a true user of the site. I’ve been on a bit of hiatus from fandom as life has been super busy, but I’m always reading fic and bookmarking it to eventually (years from now at this rate) share on the recs journal I share with iamtheenemy – polyfandomrecs (on both LJ and DW).

Things in fic I love: hurt/comfort (with happy endings), schmoop, happy endings, domestic fic, jealousy/possessiveness (without going over into uber creepy territory), banter, crossovers (as long as I know the fandoms), close familial units, awesome besties/partners that have each other’s backs, cuddles, fun, angst if it ends happily and lots and lots of banter.

Things in fic I dislike: Please no rape/noncom/dubcon/child-animal harm pieces for me. It’s not my cup of tea. I don’t mind angst, but I’d like it to be somewhat sorted out and for my character’s to have a chance at happy endings.

My feelings on AUs – I enjoy a great genderbend, but I don’t really read the AUs where character A + character B are in college or in the wild west or in space or working at a coffeeshop.

Overall, I just like the characters to be true to who they are in whatever story they end up in.

So the actual requests. Please note these weren’t done in any particular order so much as “I want this, no I want that, no this…” for about an hour. The notes below are just things to help, not hinder your process.

Request 1 – The Losers, Jake Jensen & Carlos “Cougar” Alvarez - I love Jake Jensen. And of course, that means I love Cougar too. I'd prefer as a pairing, but their friendship is fun too. They really tend to understand one another in ways the others don't. Hurt/comfort is a favorite of mine, especially when Jensen is the one hurt and Cougar becomes overprotective.

Jake/Cougar is a huge OTP of mine. I love them. I love how well they fit together and how neither of them is really as clueless about it as some think. I love protective and jealous Cougar and I really love capable Jensen who still manages to end up in trouble. I would love them as a pairing with lots of stealthy (or not so stealthy) kisses, but them just being the awesome partners in crime that they are would be great too.

Request 2 - Cal Leandros Series by Rob Thurman, Cal Leandros & Niko Leandros - I love these books. Mostly, I adore the relationship, in all its co-dependent dysfunction that makes up Cal and Niko's sibling relationship. I love that they both know it's not necessarily the healthiest, but it's what they know and trust. Anything around the two of them, based in what's happened in the books or just a random scene from their lives would be great.

I just bought the most recent book, so I will have read all the canon by yuletide, so no worries on anything there. I love Cal and Niko. I would love a girl!Cal to see how the dynamic with Niko changes (I imagine he might be even more overprotective if that’s possible), but mostly I just want something that shows how dedicated they are to each other. I would definitely be interested in a Niko POV since we mostly get Cal’s in the books, especially set when Cal went missing and had amnesia. But really, again, anything with them being the super-close-dysfunctional brothers I love is awesome. While I tend to mostly read gen for these two, I don’t mind Cal/Niko as a pairing.

Request 3 – The Blacklist, Raymond Reddington, Elizabeth Keen, Donald Ressler - Something that just looks at the relationship between Reddington and Lizzie without anything sexual incorporated (as I still believe he might be her dad and just not my cup of tea). I added Ressler as a character as I see him as a good friend-possibly more for Lizzie.

Please no Redd/Lizzie fic. As I mentioned in my sign-up, after mainlining all of season one, I’m in the mindset of “he’s her dad!” camp and would love fic where that is a reveal or just anything that explores their odd relationship without a sexual component. I also love Lizzie’s partnership with Ressler. They’ve come a long way in the show’s span and you know that they would protect each other as best as possible.

Request 4 – My Boys, PJ Franklin & Brandon Dorff - I love PJ and her relationship with Brendan is one of my favorite things about the show.

I would love PJ/Brendan. It got teased at on the show and then was quickly taken away from us. I think it would be a fun thing for them to really explore. I’m a huge friends-to-more fan and I just see such wasted potential for those two. No matter what though, I love their friendship.

Request 5 – Battleship, Alex Hopper & Stone Hopper - I love the relationship that we get to see between Stone and Alex. I would love to see more of that.

Seriously. I have a thing for close siblings and I wish there had been more of their relationship in the movie. I would love anything with those two. I wouldn’t mind canon divergence where Stone lives to see his brother fulfill the potential he knew that he had. I wouldn’t mind fic that took place in the years between the first scene and the alien attack. I wouldn’t mind pre-movie world of them throughout the years. Anything with them being close and cool would be awesome.

Request 6 – Donald Strachey Mysteries, Donald Strachey, Timothy Callahan

I couldn’t think up a description on my sign-up for them and I don’t really have one now. I’d love hurt/comfort with Tim taking care of Donald…but I just love them as a pair – they better each other in different ways.

Okay, this letter has gotten really long. I never know if it’s true that less is more, so use what you want from this or ignore it completely. Thank you again for taking on these requests! I can’t wait to see what’s created and I hope you have a fun experience writing it. I know I’ll love the finished product.
