Through a long series of silly events, I wasn't notified of your PM till just recently :( But I've found it now, so all is well. :)
Now this is really very weird: I don't think we specified characters on the reward forum but Charles and Erik are my absolute favorite X-men characters and my OTP of the fandom. ::squee:: If I didn't tell you this, snaps for you!! And I totally identify with being intimidated by the characters: I have trouble writing anyone who is significantly older, mature and/or smarter than I am. Both of them fall into all three catagories. Which is probably why I just rabidly seek out fics about them rather than writing them myself.
I really liked it! I really liked this line: "Their friendship had become a notation in the history books, a relationship that had cracked under the strain of opposing viewpoints to handling the same problem." YES. You really seem to understand the way Charles feels about Erik, and I got the impression that he still cared about him in an "I-hate-you-but-I-love-you" sort of way. I *love* doomed relationships.
But my absolute favorite line was: “I knew people who thought like you, Charles, and they’re all dead now. I would hate for that to be your fate.” First sentence is *so* Erik. Cold, mean, yet witty. And then he softens it with that second bit. I can definitely picture him saying that.
Great first try with these characters and sorry that I didn't respond sooner. I'm Azelma, by the way. I'm a UC Gundam fanatic who also obsesses over Harry Potter and dabbles in X-Men (mostly Charles/Erik though I love Scott in general and I'll melt over any dealing-with-mutant-supression story). Hope to see you around!
