actual words...

Let's see if I can manage an actual update of sorts. First, I was too busy celebrating the birthday with different people and then this week has just been hell at work and with everything going on down south. It's just a bad situation and my heart goes out to everyone.
Needless to say, it hasn't made me feel very fandomy at all. I haven't really done much reading and/or writing.
However, there isn't anything else I can do beyond giving any money I can spare. I feel useless in this situation because I am...so I guess the best I can offer up is to try to keep going on and questioning things and praying for it to be over.
**
-Multiverse 2005 has opened and there are a ton of great crossover stories for reading. I've been going through it slowly, when I have a few minutes to spare, and will post my recs as soon as I get through the remainder of the stories.
-
quillandink has posted the newest prompts and ongoing fic challenges for the week, and feel free to add to the current round robin writing that's going on. As much/little as you want!
-
dragonsinger has declared today Drabble Day! So yeah, you post a drabble here and I will write one for you in return.

Name your five favorite superhero movies.
1. Superman. - First, Superman is my favorite superhero of all time aside from Wonder Woman...and the movies were great.
2. Spiderman. - This movie stuck to the original comic story so well and it's one of those movies I never tire of. I especially love the part where the citizens of NYC come to Spiderman's aid saying things like, "You mess with him, you mess with us." Because that is the truest thing about NYC - they might rip you apart themselves, but in the end, they stick up for each other.
3. X-Men. - I love, love, love it. I didn't expect to when I was dragged to see it by my friend, but it is fabulousness.
4. X2. - This was a great sequel and picked up on the ongoing themes of the first one perfectly. Plus, ya know, it had Pyro.
5. Sky High. - Okay, so it's the *training* ground for *future* superheroes, but I enjoyed it a great deal.

Okay, it's lunchtime and I have errands to run.
Take care everyone!
Ciao.

Drabble!
Date: 2005-09-02 11:11 am (UTC)"It's like a what if." Seth pressed the pause button on the DVD remote. "It's a prequel to the life of Clark Kent, before he became Superman."
"He wasn't always Superman?"
Seth rolled his eyes. "Did you not read the trade of Crisis on Infinite Earths that I lent you? Honestly, man, comics have history. You can't understand them if you don't try. But to answer your question, in current continuity, Clark didn't become Superman until he moved to Metropolis. He's always been Kryptonian, not a super hero. Got it?"
Ryan nodded slightly. "Has Lex always been his best friend?"
"Please, Ryan." Seth groaned. "We've been over this before. It's an Elseworlds. It was part of the creative genius, though, to actually bring Lex in as Clark's best friend. It makes the future so much more damn poignant."
"Uh, Seth....it's just a TV show."
"Bite your tongue! It's a multi-media experience."
Ryan snorted. "Yeah. Whatever."
"You're not part of the fandom, man. That's your problem." Seth picked up the remote. "Now, this episode- Crush, is one of the best episodes ever. Wait till you see the guest star."

Anyway, here's one for you. A Maria/Michael post graduation one:
"You're kidding with this, right?" Maria said, placing her hands on her hips and glaring at the big oaf that sometimes passed for her boyfriend.
"Huh?"
She closed her eyes, breathing in blues and yellows and out black and blahs. She couldn't kill him. Well, she could, but then she would get arrested and he was so not worth that. "Michael...Michael..." she stopped and swatted at him. "Are you even listening to me?"
"What? Yeah, you're pissed off because I forgot dinner."
"No, I'm pissed off because you don't even seem to care that you forgot dinner."
"Huh?"
"You left me sitting in a dive bar for over an hour. A sticky, gross place where a guy named Moe asked me to be his little lady. All the while i'm freaking out that you had been captured or were dead in an alley somewhere because even my boyfriend is not that stupid."
Maria fell down on the small couch next to him. She hit him again, even though she could see that the reality of everything was processing, and added, "Obviously, I was wrong."
"I agreed to work late."
"Uh-huh."
"We need the money."
"True, but--"
"I'm sorry."

Date: 2005-09-02 04:25 pm (UTC)And glad you liked the Michael/Maria. I knew you were a fellow Roswell fan, but I didn't know who you shipped, if anyone and I'm just...I really hate Max/Liz. Heh.

Date: 2005-09-03 11:39 am (UTC)With Roswell, I started off as a Dreamer at the very beginning, then quickly switched to Candy, and dabbled in Stargazer before I settled on my one trule fandom love- Kyle. Nobody was writing or doing much with him, so I started writing, and fell in love with the character, and the obsession grew from there. And with Kyle, I've shipped him numerously- I wrote a bunch of prequel fics dealing with the Liz/Kyle relationship, but was really rabid in the Kyle/Tess area until she killed Alex, and then I shipped Kyle/Isabel as well.
I'm not a fan of Jesse at all, and Tess/Max is not my cup of tea. I don't mind Max/Liz, but I'm not rabid ooey gooey over that. But M&M together is always good and should be.....my corner of fandom was being the wild Kyle (aka the woozle-----long, long fandom story--) obsessor with a group of M&M shippers. It's alll good. *g* Hee.

Lorelai stood in front of the full-length mirror, admiring her wedding dress, upswept hair, and bouquet. The butterflies in her stomach subsided as soon as she saw herself. She was ready.
She walked down the stairs and was met by Jackson. He escorted her outside to join Luke under the chuppah. Lorelai wondered vaguely if Luke had known how it would be used when he'd first built it for her.
Lorelai's smile was matched by Luke's ear splitting grin. He looked so handsome and proud. She moved to stand beside Sookie, across from Luke and Kirk. Everything was just perfect, she was so happy.
She only wished Rory were here.

Jack made his way back to the caves, cursing under his breath as he walked. He couldn't recall a time in his life that anyone infuriated him quite the way that Sawyer managed to. Kate would tell him to ignore it, that Sawyer was doing it on purpose. Like Jack didn't know that. Of course Sawyer was doing it on purpose.
"Who knew you were so sensitive, doc?"
Jack spun around and glared in the direction of the familiar voice. He noticed how his hand curled up into a fist reflexively and that kept him from moving any closer. He was likely to knock the smirk right off Sawyer's face - no more Mr. Nice Doc.
