I survived the weekend...barely

First, because my heart is all a flutter and excited by its gorgeousness...G-I-P! It's my OTP! Jack Bauer and Sydney Bristow. They seriously are the perfect couple and everyone needs to discover it and write me tons of fic! So far,
spy_barbie has joined the club! C'mon. Think of the potential.
So much love to
5ft3 for obliging my request with icons! They rock!

So the Remix Redux III authors were revealed on Friday night. So I guess I can decloak myself and point y'all in the direction of my story. Some of you think you figured out, so I'm curious if you were right - which probably you are because I think it's pretty obvious by my style and...obligatory respect for my fave OTP in that fandom.
So I wrote Chord (The Awkward Comfort Mix) for
jengrrrl.
I have to admit that it took me quite a while to choose which story I was going to remix. I was torn between this one and one X-Men story, but since I had never written Rogue with anyone but Pyro, I wasn't sure that I could pull it off in any convincing manner...and I didn't want to totally suck up someone's remix story.
Then in Roswell fandom, this was the only story that wasn't a WIP or way too long for me to do a proper remix of it - and it intrigued me. Because throughout the story we see Isabel trying to deal with losing Alex, who she is, and where she sees her future going. And the only person she seems to count on outside of Alex is Michael. So I wanted to focus on that.
I momentarily considered writing it from Ghost!Alex's POV, but I just couldn't pull it off in any plausible way that would be entertaining and make sense. So I settled for Michael. And luckily, once I got through the first scene, I was able to work from it - but getting through that first scene was killer. I wasn't sure how to go about it - because I knew, as the reader of the first story, what Isabel was thinking and feeling, but Michael is clueless, only aware of the things that Isabel tells him or he picks up on.
But I think it turned out fairly well. Not too shabby and not too awful a companion piece to a very interesting story.

My long weekend felt like anything but. The mother forced me to go on errands with her (which, she did buy me some groceries and no cost stuff is always nice), there was house hunting to be done (aaack! I'm gonna go crazy soon!), and then there was the holiday and the boy was here for a bit (having just left to head back up to NYC).
Now I just want to curl up in my bed and sleep. Maybe watch some more Freaks and Geeks or my new copy of Bridget Jones's Diary: Edge of Reason (colin firth!)...or I could be good and finally start working on my
crossficathon piece so that
ladybug218 doesn't have to kill me.

Quick Pimpage:
plan_9_from_lj is a community that's hopefully going to become the movie equivalent of TWOP. The mocking version of
movie_recs.
The I Miss Chris Ficathon in the Charmed fandom has started taking sign-ups for participants! So sign-up...or if you know someone who would be interested...pass this along to them.
Mistake - so I made a request of
carmen_sandiego for an alias ficlet involving Syd/Weiss and this was the outcome. It's wonderful! So go read and feedback!

Date: 2005-03-28 09:04 am (UTC)Jennifer Garner is definitely pretty tall, although not as tall as she looks on tv, probably because on tv they make her wear things that make her look really long and lean and also because she's a kickass secret agent on tv. She's really cute and just as skinny as you'd think she'd be.
Kiefer Sutherland I saw in this total dive bar when I went with my friends for a birthday karaoke night. He was leaving as I was going in (it was maybe 10:30 on a Friday night?). The dude... is short. And kind of little. But mostly, kind of short. If it helps, though, he was holding a longneck like a man. Uh... yeah.
I didn't used to believe that LA was swarming with stars, but man, I dunno anymore. It's like they've invaded. Thank God I don't live in northern LA, where they actually live. I'd probably have more stories, but also be much more disillusioned about my favorite tv and movie people.

Date: 2005-03-28 09:22 am (UTC)And yeah, I live in Jersey/Philly...don't meet many people - though I used to see lots of stars when I was a renthead and knew members of the cast (because the stars would come backstage to meet them and sign the wall)
