my vacation is moving too fast...

I am alive. It seems my plans for a very quiet vacation were thwarted by friends, family, and the boy, who managed to get me to sit through not only Fast & the Furious, but Too Fast, Too Furious this evening. Tomorrow we do the final Tokoyo Drift one - lucky me. I tried to get out of it, claiming that since my stitches came out this morning - I'm all good - that I should get to pick such things, but noooo...

He's lucky that I'm a sucker for the promise of cute boys and nice cars.

tomorrow at some point, I must finish up my SPN Holiday story. I've started it and I'm liking it thus far, but it needs to get finished. I don't want my person to end up with nothing - I've had that happen to me and it's a sucktastic feeling.

I've barely made a dent in yuletide fic. I really need to work on that. And dude, I'm so far behind on all the good SPN fic out there once again...add to it all the holiday challenge stuff and I might not get caught up on fic reading for quite awhile.

So SPN has a wank - incest/slash is the devil and woe betide the lack of gen/het and women should stay home and raise their kids so they wouldn't grow up to read/write the porn of two boys together.

First off, totally wrong fandom to try this in as this fandom has huge amounts of GOOD gen fic and a decent amount of het fic as well. Prior to being broken by poisontaster's amazing wincest, I always found a lot to read...I never found myself thinking, "Those damn wincesters are discriminating against me.

And if I couldn't find fic, I would write it myself, or force one of my lovely friends to write it for me.

I guess it all goes back to my belief that fandom is whatever you make it to be.

But dude, could we keep the "women belongs in the houses with the kids" stuff out of it? I have stay at home mom friends and I have working mom friends and both sets are equally good at being parents...and women don't work out of a sense of "greed" usually. It's called eeking out a living and having a purpose in life aside from raising children.

Grrr...

Now I shall go read lots of Sam/Dean doing bad things...maybe while Nathan/Peter watch! Because I'm a feckless sort.

Heh, I've got Tokyo Drift to watch as well (had some free pay per view vouchers to use up). Was told it was fun and slashy, so we'll see.

Ohmygosh! How I love Fast and Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious. Paul Walker is such a cutie. And both films are rather slashy. There aren't a lot of slash stories for these movies but there are some really good ones.

I've tried to find good SPN gen fics but so far, I didn't have much luck :( Maybe I'm searching in all the wrong places *sighs* It's like trying to find a good Wyatt/Chris fic. FF.net is a really scary place indeed O.O

If you check out the memories of polyfandomrecs, I used to rec a lot of SPN gen fic. So if you're looking, it can be found...

But yeah, I agree that Charmed fic can be harder, mostly because the only place that seems to have a fandom these days is on FF.net (SCARY is right)...

And dude, I have to admit. I did like both the Fast & Furious movies...Paul Walker was so hitting on Tyrese in the second one and I *loved* it.

The first F&F film was slashy, you know with the whole "now he owns you" quote (or something like that). But the second was even slashier. No het romance whatsover and they even stayed together and opened a garage. Slashy thoughts, slashy thoughts!

Dude, exactly, she totally picked the wrong fandom to complain about there not being gen. There is TONS of it and most of it is really good. I mean, there are certain fandoms where the gen is lacking, but SPN is not one of them.

There is a difference between not enjoying the wincest/slash and calling anyone who does names...it's so stupid.

Is it wrong that this latest attempt at putting a stop to the "evil" that is Wincest made me a) desperate for an icon that says "My fandom has incestuous faggot heathens" and b) start reading John/Dean and John/Sam fics which is a whole new world of Wincest as far as I am concerned. Ha!

I'm thinking I should go thank the person involved for opening my eyes to new possibilities. Hmmm, maybe I should wait until I'm back at work and do it from there, I'm sure she'd like that. ;)

Ok, now I'm kinda getting the gist of the wank that happened. And here is my general statement on the subject.

I personally don't like wincest and don't see it even hinted at in the rich sibling relationship between Dean and Sam. BUT that doesn't mean I have anything against anyone who does or anyone who writes it or reads it. I don't enjoy slash in any fandom, but in some I can see more hints of it (*cough*Clex*cough*). But this comes down to a persons right to an opinion.

Everyone is entitled to their own, and I respect a person based on how they are as a person and not by what they enjoy to read/write in a fandom. Period. I respect a person who says what they mean without hiding behind anonimity or a friends only post. I respect a person who doesn't censor themselves or what they think.

Now, as a het and gen reader I am finding plenty to read in the SPN fandom (and yes, it's the only fandom I am reading at the moment). I do find the actual number of slash/wincest fics to be a bit confusing, but only because I just don't view the characters in that way at all. I know if I was a fan of slash I would be open to a whole other avenue of good authors in the fandom and I regret the loss of that. I have actually tried when a fic was recommended highly and just couldn't get past how wrong it felt to me personally even though I respect the authors talents.

*sigh* I hate wank. Wank by definition is people not respecting other peoples right to opinion. That is not something I stand for or play well with at all.
