tommygirl: (books - the world)

I finished my first reading of Eclipse today and I'm not sure that my opinions will be in the majority. I did enjoy it, but by page twenty I was ready to kill Edward and Bella. It's not even like I'm a huge Jacob/Bella shipper. I love Edward and I love Edward/Bella, but oh my god, how many times can people have the same fucking conversation throughout the book?

Edward is too damn controlling and Bella just takes it for most of the book. And that drives me crazy. And then Jake...I know he loves Bella, but Edward makes a good point that what the hell happens when he imprints with someone else?

I did love the back story for Rosalie, but mostly I loved the backstory for Jasper. Because Alice and Jasper OWN. I love them. I loved how she was waiting in the diner for him and said, "Finally." She's adorable. Seriously, I think it was my love of Alice that got my through this book without throwing it across a room (that's how much I wanted to punch both Edward and Bella in the face in this book).

I am glad that Edward finally realized how overprotective he can be and I'm so glad that Bella realized the way she was with Jake because that bugged me how he was "my Jacob" yet she would go on about not wanting him. I hated how she would get mad at Jake for the same things that Edward did without being that way with him, like she was afraid to call Edward on it or Edward was just perfection in her eyes.

Did I mention my love of Alice and Jasper? Seriously, I love them. My sister used to ask me to write her Bella/Edward all the time and I just could never do it, mostly because I just can't write a Bella that wouldn't be OOC. I'm not *that* girl, so I told her I would write her some Alice/Jasper instead. Hhhmmm...I have to think about what to write for them.

So yes, I'll read it again. I plan to go back and re-read Twilight and New Moon. I love Twilight so much. It's this moment in perfection...and I did enjoy this book overall, but I'm not sure it's natural to want to beat the characters to death with a spoon at parts.

Now I will finish up the Nora Roberts I put down for this so I can finish it before I pick up my Jessica Darling book (which I'm always a bit wary of for this one).

Today there was hardly any humidity. We slept with the air off last night and then today we were able to be outside and breathe. The boy and I ran some errands, did some shopping, and rented some movies.

I'm hoping tomorrow I can do some actually writing and reading of fanfiction. I'm so very behind. It makes me sad...but I've been busy and then I've been in one of my moods where I prefer reading an actual book to going online. I go through phases like that.
