It seems livejournal won't let me play in their sandbox, so I come running over here. Surely, it's a sign I'm a wee bit obsessed with journaling in some form or another.

Have gotten one of my co-workers hooked on the Twilight books. Still won't let her read my fanfic as that is something I don't share with my coworkers...but it's fun to watch someone sink into the Stephenie Meyer obsession that involves loathing and love all meshed together.

**

Am now caught up on Fringe just in time for three weeks of no new episodes. My timing is amazing. The show is a bit gross at points for my delicate sensabilities, but I enjoy it. Walter makes me laugh. Olivia is an interesting lead character. And it has grown up Pacey with scruff and a genius iq and that is never tiring. I love Josh Jackson.

Also caught up on numb3rs and spoilers through this past friday's episode... )

**

I should do some writing. Or something.
tommygirl: (jensen & jared - paley)
This week is already almost half over and I'm clinging to that as things at work take another annoying turn. I can't help but wonder what lessons I'm supposed to be taking from this.

On the bright side, my weekend was lovely. I saw the new Indiana Jones and I loved it. Spoilers ahoy... ) I think I need some Shia icons from the movie though. Anyone point me in the right direction?

**

I picked up Evernight by Claudia Gray as I always love to support our wonderful fandom fen that get the chance to publish and so far I'm really enjoying the main character. Plus, I'm a sucker for vampires in any shape or form.

I also got the first chapter of the next Twilight book from a friend. I haven't had an opportunity to read it yet, but I'm very excited to see how Bella and Edward's story wraps up. I'm just hoping that the final book makes me remember why I loved the first book - because Eclipse made me want to kill Bella, Edward, and Jacob. I think that's why my favorite characters are Alice & Jasper and Emmett & Rosalie. They weren't given enough time to annoy me.

**

I honestly can't believe it's almost June already. It hasn't been my favorite year thus far, but it's going rather quickly. Of course, I feel so disconnected from fandom lately. I'm hoping that will change at some point, but right now work remains crazy and I'm house hunting in real life...so I'm just a bit frazzled most of the time.
tommygirl: (angel - jazz hands)
I stayed up too late last night watching MSNBC's primary results. Damn Indiana for constantly pushing back the final results.

I've also watched the Twilight trailer more than is healthy. I cannot wait for this movie! It's going to be so awesomely cheesy! And my vampire boys are all so pretty.

On the Stephenie Meyer front, I picked up her new book yesterday. My sister is going to read it first as I'm in the middle of the latest Dresden book right now, but hopefully it will be good stuff. I'm a tad bit addicted to her books. Okay, specifically Twilight.

::dons pimp hat yet again::

C'mon my friends! I know there are a lot of you out there that still love those fandoms that are off the air and not as popular anymore. I know you guys want more fic in those fandoms.

So take a look at the offered & requested list of fandoms and then go and sign-up. And you're not stuck with just what's on the offered/requested list, but I'd suggest pimping it to people if you want a really small fandom so you have better chances of getting what you want!

Come play! It'll be fun!

**

I feel like I have nothing of value to offer at the moment and I apologize. 2008 has not been the best year so far. Things are in upheaval and I think the universe is trying to tell me that I need to make some changes. So that's where my head has been lately...focused on real life stuff like job searches and buying a house. I really do want to get back to spending some time on the fandom fun of reading/writing/reccing.
tommygirl: (supernatural - sammy smile)
Happy Supernatural Day! There will be new Sam and Dean on our television screens tonight! This can never be a bad thing. Because even the not-so-great episodes of Supernatural (Route 666, Bugs) are still better than a lot of the crap out there. And I say this as a girl who watches most of the said crap.

My Twilight Friends: Anyone know anything about her new, non-twilight verse book? Of course, I will buy it no matter what, but anyone have any information?

My sister's co-worker is now on the periphery of Twilight fandom as she is quite addicted to the books and is already planning for me and my sister to go with her to opening night of the movie (which duh, of course, I will be there). It's awesome.

**

Our marketing director cut off the top of his thumb and my coworkers are all looking around his office for the part he cut off. I think I am going to be sick. just the thought...ICK! I need Dean Winchester to come hold me and save me from the grossness.
tommygirl: (24 - jack)
I am exhausted. Today was just insane at work. We had a new part time graphic designer, so a few of us took him out to lunch. Cool guy. I really do love most of my coworkers. If/when I leave, that will be a very hard thing.

No spoilers for AI, but I found out that my sister has a weird knowledge of all things Dolly Parton. I knew she liked her music, but my sister is telling me the meanings behind all the songs and such. I just kept asking her if she spends all her time on Dolly Parton Wiki or something. This does explain why she's making me go to Dollywood this year on our road trip down south.

I need to finish my [livejournal.com profile] bubbleficathon piece. It's for Chuck and the pairing is one I enjoy, so I'm not sure what the hell my problem is. I have a mental block on finishing it. I'm blaming the pneumonia and subsequent real life stress...it's made my brain stop working. All I do is re-read Twilight and New Moon (I started Eclipse again, but about forty pages in remembered why I hadn't re-read that one again...everyone except Alice and Jasper annoys me!)
tommygirl: (supernatural - sam's grin)
It figures that I'm finally getting over my pneumonia only to get bogged down all weekend with allergies/sinuses. I took my little bit to the movie early yesterday and then after I got home, I ended up sleeping for about four and a half hours. After that I finished up my latst reread of New Moon. Bella still annoys me a great deal, but Edward and Jacob don't bother me so much this time. Of course, I'm starting Eclipse tonight and there were points in that book the first time around where I was annoyed with the lot of them.

Today I did some writing on my bubbleficathon and femme-ficathon pieces. Due tomorrow. I'm trying my best, but I fear they might be a day or two late as I'm about to fall asleep again. Also today, I ended up watching the newest BBC version of Persuasion and then the Keira Knightley Pride and Prejudice with my sister and mother. I do really like the Federick in this Persuasion much more, but the end was a little cheesy. Anne would never run through a town - how unladylike - let alone make out on the street.

And then P & P, I just adore. My favorite will always be the BBC version, but this one is just visually stunning.

So it was a Jane Austen sort of day, what with Sense & Sensibility on PBS tonight.

**

I'll be interested to see if our latest temp returns to our office tomorrow. I kept getting the vibe that she wasn't very happy with the position, but my boss swears that she seemed okay to her. Whatever. I'm just going to do my work and mind my own business until I can get myself out of there.
tommygirl: (burn notice - stealthy)
I have managed to get a new friend addicted to Twilight. Mwah. Now, if only I could get some more people to write me Alice/Jasper fic whenever I want. That would be lovely.

Okay, really, why limit it to Alice/Jasper fic? There is a lot of fic people can write me on my whims...hee.

**

I gave New Amsterdam two episodes, but I'm just not sure how I feel about it. It's not bad, but it's not good either. The guy is hot, but the character isn't nearly as interesting as you would expect from someone who has lived that long. However, I did like the relationships around him and how they are affected by his immortality.

Maybe one more week because right now all I seem to watch is Bravo Reality TV and American Idol.

**

I'm trying to get past this huge writer's block I'm suffering through. Though it's not so much writer's block as after being sick for so long and busy in real life, the idea of just sitting down and writing seems so foreign to me. I need to suck it up and get to writing.
tommygirl: (twilight - alice/jasper)
I was taking a break from some reading and saw this Twilight fandom survey. It was a way to waste a little bit of time.

And why do I keep watching Aeon Flux whenever it's on? It wasn't that good, but I always watch the whole damn thing. What's WRONG with me?

Anyway, survey...

lots of questions about twilight, new moon, and eclipse... )
tommygirl: (supernatural - boys tuxes)
Day before Thanksgiving here in the States and I only have to work until 3:30! Woo-hoo. Though I have to run a few errands on my lunch and I'm fearing what the traffic will be like. I hate traffic, mostly because there are always idiots who create problems.

**

I started an Alice/Jasper fic for my Twilight Table. I so love them, but I'm not sure I have a handle on writing them. I guess we'll see.

**

This long weekend, I really need to make a dent in my writing. I've been making my Mini-Nanowrimo writing goal, but I feel like there is still so much that I need to do. Oh, what is with my addiction to challenges? I need to be stopped.
tommygirl: (heroes - matt & mohinder)
Is livejournal moving very slow for anyone else out there? Argh. I guess it's a sign that I should be writing rather than procrastinating...but I just can't seem to settle my brain down enough to focus on any writing.

I did write four ficlets over the past four days and I have two stories with betas. So November and Mini-Nanowrimo are going rather well over all. I just have a lot on my writing to-do plate and this doesn't even make much of a dent at the moment. Oh, me and my love of challenges and over-committing myself. One day I will learn.

**

There needs to be more Alice/Jasper fic from Twilight. I've found tons of Edward/Bella and Jacob/Bella and yes, I understand they are the main love triangle...but Alice/Jasper rock! They are awesome as individuals and as a couple and nowhere in Eclipse did they make me want to kill any of them, unlike the three main characters.

There also needs to be more schmoopy Heroes Matt/Mohinder fic. Something with a possessive Mohinder or a hurt/comfort fic!

Actually, there needs to be more schmoopy fic, period. It's my favorite sort. Angst and dark fic are fine, but schmoop is something I always love, no matter what my mood. maybe I should run another round of Schmoopfest, but it'll probably wait until after the holidays.
tommygirl: (supernatural - the hug)
So I've wanted to write Alice/Jasper for awhile, but could never think up any prompts/ideas on my own. So I'm trying a table.

For the Twilight 20 - Beta Table )
tommygirl: (jensen)
Twilight Fans: [livejournal.com profile] marishna has a poll up about what to name her Edward/Jacob community. So go vote here. And once it's set up, I shall pimp again. Because there is always something hot about the we-should-hate-each-other hook ups. Though I'm still an Alice/Jasper lover and really, where the heck is all that fic?

**

- Comment and I'll give you a letter.
- You have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter.
- Afterwards, post this in your journal.

[livejournal.com profile] dexterette gave me "T"

Onto the 10 things I love with  )

Tomorrow I go to the King Tut Exhibit and wander the Franklin Institute. It's one of my favorite places to go. I love to take my little bit there and I always think back to my brownie & girl scout camp-ins that took place in the museum after hours. It made me feel like I was a part of something adventurous like the book, From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler (one of my favorites), where I could travel the museum when no one else had access to it.

Plus, the planetarium is always fun.

And did I mention the King Tut exhibit? It makes a nerd like me very happy!
tommygirl: (oc - seth/ryan hug)
Being sick for the past five days has really messed me up. Not only am I confused as to what day it is and what's going on in the real world, I'm so behind on fannish endeavors (ya know, the *important* stuff).

I just finished sending out the reminders to those that requested them for [livejournal.com profile] schmoopfest, since stories are due this friday! And I made the masterlist for [livejournal.com profile] spncross. Now I just need to finish my story for both challenges ([livejournal.com profile] spncross first) along with my Sam/Dean take on Just Friends...not even counting the numerous other writing projects I have in the works.

Stupid sinuses!

::shakes fist as though I wouldn't be this behind without illness anyway::

**

So I checked out [livejournal.com profile] twilight_tables, not because I think I can write that much Twilight fic, but because I wanted to see if anyone signed up for Alice/Jasper. And people have! THis makes me happy! This means there will be Alice/Jasper fic! YAY! I love them.

I'm actually working on an Alice/Jasper fic for my sister because she was complaining that I never write her anything. She originally asked for Edward/Bella and I just can't do it. I enjoyed Edward/Bella, but I don't think I could ever write them, especially not Bella. She's the antithesis of the female characters I tend to write and it would probably come out terrible if I tried to undertake it.

But Alice/Jasper. YUM. I'm gonna have to keep an eye on that community.

**

Okay, I'm going to attempt to do some writing this evening. But first, I must shower.
tommygirl: (Default)
I'm quite behind on my fannish activities. And I know [livejournal.com profile] vinylroad will kill me soon if I don't read her fics, especially the one that I have been begging for...

But what I really want right now is some Twilight-verse Alice/Jasper fic. Is there any out there? Most of the fic that I stumble upon is either Edward/Bella or Jacob/Bella...where is the Alice/Jasper appreciation? They are awesome.

I really am going to have to write this myself, aren't I?

This is the problem with my small-fandom love.

Speaking of small fandom, I may have started girl Niko/Calvin fic for Veritas the Quest. I figure it will be late b-day gifts for [livejournal.com profile] medie, myself, and [livejournal.com profile] zeplum. I'm not sure there is anyone else who would appreciate it.

Now I shall go work on something until work is done for the day.
tommygirl: (books - the world)
I finished my first reading of Eclipse today and I'm not sure that my opinions will be in the majority. I did enjoy it, but onto spoilers for Eclipse - my thoughts and such... )

Now I will finish up the Nora Roberts I put down for this so I can finish it before I pick up my Jessica Darling book (which I'm always a bit wary of for this one).

**

Today there was hardly any humidity. We slept with the air off last night and then today we were able to be outside and breathe. The boy and I ran some errands, did some shopping, and rented some movies.

I'm hoping tomorrow I can do some actually writing and reading of fanfiction. I'm so very behind. It makes me sad...but I've been busy and then I've been in one of my moods where I prefer reading an actual book to going online. I go through phases like that.
tommygirl: (ben affleck)
You know, it's crap the stuff that electric/gas companies can get away with because they are basically MONOPOLIES. Our electricity continues to go out for about six hours at a time. I call and complain, but really, what the hell else can I do? Because I have to keep stupid PSE&G. There aren't any other options.

So I haven't been around a whole lot. Busy in real life, but also don't seem to having working electricity except at work. Le sigh.

**

Important: So the wonderful [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore had a medical scare and some of her friends put together a community to post fics/graphics/etc for her as she recovers. So go to [livejournal.com profile] allvoodooanyway!

**

I really need to do some writing this week. Maybe this afternoon and tonight. My sister is reading Eclipse as we speak and I don't get it until tomorrow once she's done. I can't wait. Edward Cullen! I love him so! I also love Alice & Jasper! And Bella is okay.

[livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy and I were both talking about how we want more Twilight 'verse fic, but neither of us would probably be good candidates to write it. Bella is just so very different from the type of female characters I'm attracted to. And I also tend to write with a bit of banter/sarcasm mixed in - and she's not really a character that would fit for. And that's not to say she's a bad character. I love Bella. I have certain issues with her at times, but still love her...but she's not someone I could probably write well.

So I shall just keep combing the internet for good fic.

But tomorrow I don't have to because we have new canon! Yay!

(And how much do I love that in the past few months my friends list has exploded with love for these books? For a long time I could only chat with Steph and the real life friends I forced to read it.)

**

Anyway, if you guys want...give me some drabble prompts (character and/or pairing, prompt) for fandoms I know. No guarantees as to when they'll be finished (y'all should know me by now), but let's help to get my muses flowing.
