fa, la, la - subjects are not my forte

Oh, it's another one of those days where I know that I should write, but I can't bring myself to write anything of any value. I've written a few drabbles, so maybe I'll post those.
Ugh.
I hate it when my will to write dissipates into thin air. Especially since I need it right now. I have some stuff to get done before Nanowrimo begins next Monday (next Monday? How is it November already? Eek!)

So, as a girl who lives to procrastinate, here's another one of those writing memes that I stole from
musesfool
1. You're a handsome devil. What’s your name?
TommyGirl
2. Ever write under any other name?
At one point, I wrote under my real name, but my writing advisor advised me not to do that and I stopped.
3. Look around you. How did you end up here?
On LJ? - I stumbled upon the service a long time ago for my regular journal.
In online fandom? - Back in the Prodigy days (oh so long ago) I used to post on the boards regarding my love for Friends. Does that count?
Posting fanfic? - Nsync…though I wrote Party of Five stuff for me and my friends before I technically knew what fanfiction was.
4. Favourite line from the song you're listening to right now, or last listened to?
”Life used to be lifelike, but not it’s more like tv…” - “Dilate” Ani DiFranco
5. What's the last movie you saw that inspired something ficcish in you?
The Prince and Me - because the guy who plays the prince is totally my inspiration for one of my original characters in Power of Two
6. Is there a character you'd like to write, but can't-- and why the hell can't you?
I wish I could write Mal on Firefly. I love that character so much and there are so many possible stories, but I could never do the character or Joss justice.
7. We all hate favorite questions, I know, but-- who's your favorite character (a) to read? (b) to write?
In any specific fandom? Or just overall fandom wise? I’ll go with overall.
To read: Draco Malfoy – specifically with Harry Potter.
To write: Ahhh…since the question was “character” and not RPS, I shall go with Chris from Charmed. I love getting inside his head – he’s sarcastic and angsty and dealing with the weight of saving the world along with such family issues. How can I not love this boy?
8. Who's your least favorite character (a) to read? (b) to write?
To read: I don’t believe anyone needs to include Lana Lang in stories.
To write: I can’t write Ron Weasley. He’s the devil!
9. Is there a story you'd like to write, but can't-- and why can't you?
I would love to delve into the Firefly fandom, but I can’t because of my own paranoia and high standards for that fandom. I don’t feel that I could do it justice and therefore scare myself out of attempting anything. Maybe someday, but I doubt it.
10. What's a title you've always wanted to use, but haven't had the opportunity yet?
Um…I stink at creating titles. I can’t title the stuff I’ve already written.
11. What was the first story you ever completed, and what do you think of it now?
I’m guessing this means the first fanfiction I ever wrote that got posted – otherwise we’re going back to third grade and no one needs to see something like that.
Two Weeks - A Lance Bass story. It’s okay for what it was. I’ve improved a great deal since then so that’s always a plus.
12. What was the last story you completed, and what do you think of it now?
The last story that I finished was Waiting For the Picture to Develop - a M/M Roswell story. It’s okay. Not my best work, but it’s enjoyable for what it is.
13. Where do you do most of your writing?
At my desk in my room
14. Do you have any fic taboos?
There are things I just don’t get and stuff that completely freaks me out. I’m not a fan of incest fic or stories where it’s an adult with a child. That stuff is just ew to me and I avoid it – writing and reading.
15. What made you start writing fic? Were you filled with creative juices, or was it a random act of plot correction?
There were two things that had me enter fanfiction writing – 1) I was home sick from school for months due to a bad illness with nothing but time on my hands and 2) at the time, there were very few Lance stories in the Nsync fandom and I wanted to read some Lance. I was basically filled with the basic amusing idea (to me anyway) that it would be interesting to take a girl like my best friend (the anti-pop girl) and have her meet Lance and end up falling for him. It’s so cheesy and fluffy, but I went with it.
16. Who has influenced your style the most?
It varies. I’m influenced by all the books I read and there are certain shows from people like Joss that their use of language sticks with me and works its way into my vernacular for characters.
Though I’d have to say my writing advisor in college was a very big piece of the writer I am today – good and bad.
17. What is the sexiest word?
I don’t know.
18. What is the least sexy word?
I hate those Harlequin-romance-type words like, “Quivering member” - just…ahhhh…
::head explodes::
19. What's the word you use too much/often?
Apparently – and it’s an adverb. Ick.
20. You're a writer. By definition you are plagued and pursued by images. So what image is burned into your brain right now?
Charlie from Lost attempting to be the playa of the island and fumbling about miserably.
21. If you were going to write professionally under an assumed name, what would that name be?
Eileen Roberts
22. If you'd made out this survey, what question would you have asked that I didn't?
What advice can you give to someone starting out with writing?
And the question asked by
musesfool in her survey: what one story of someone else’s do you wish you’d written?
I wish I could take credit for some of Lady Lit’s pieces because they’re just fantastic.
Ugh.
I hate it when my will to write dissipates into thin air. Especially since I need it right now. I have some stuff to get done before Nanowrimo begins next Monday (next Monday? How is it November already? Eek!)
