So while I'm very proud/happy for all the people on my friends list who completed Nano successfully this year, I'm more than a little disappointed with myself for not finishing my novel. I made great headway on it and I don't think it's half bad for a first draft, but it's nowhere near 50,000 words or complete. I'd like to put the blame solely on the fact that I work full time while going to school and that I got sick, but that was only part of it. I just lost my motivation somewhere along the way and it stopped being fun. My goal with writing has always been to have fun, even during those moments of the story where nothing is going right, I still like writing.

That wasn't happening this time.

So, I don't know. Maybe Nano isn't for me.

Now, all I need to do is get my motivation back so I can get something down. I've got a glorious idea for my [livejournal.com profile] yuletide fic, so maybe I'll work on that.

So tomorrow I start my month of recs over at [livejournal.com profile] crack_van for The O.C.. I have some of my own favorites that have never been rec'd, but I'm still on the lookout for some good stories. Must find more good stories. I think my problem is that I'm such a picky reader. I don't give much stuff (unless I'm already familiar with the author) a chance if it doesn't entice me immediately...so I don't know if this will make me a good rec'r or not. Hopefully, it will.

But yeah, if you know of any good fics out there, hook me up, buttercup! Hell, if you've got some of your own, pimp away and I shall give it a try!

**

I also need to do some last minute [livejournal.com profile] movie_recs for my category. I'm not too behind on those, so it's not a problem, I just never think of doing it when I'm near a computer. Why is that?

Okay, I'm off! I've made a list of things from people's Christmas Wish Lists that I think I can grant and hopefully get done before the holidays are over. I'm gonna try to do as many as I can because i love the idea, but alas, the only thing I'm decent with is fiction. My graphics are so pathetic that I only force them upon myself most of the time.

Have a great day!

I didn't make Nano either... but I streamlined a series and made it a lot better... got almost 30,000 words and still working on it!

Yeah, gotta go thru the Christmas lists in my memories and see what I can grant!

See, I think 30,000 words is a success! Sure, it's not done, but you've definitely accomplished something!

Thanks! I'm really happy with how the story is going... continuing to work on it!

I tried NaNo once and it so didn't work for me. The idea of writing without constantly editing was utterly disheartening. I'd rather write one-thousand words that I know are good rather than fifty-thousand that I don't have time to read eight million times. I'm not suited to NaNo -- it isn't for everyone.

I'm beginning to realize I might be one of those it's not for. I'm pretty good about writing under pressure with deadlines, but this was just too much. It sapped all the energy out of me after week two...and I kept going back to edit things and fussing over it.

You're reccing The O.C., right? I don't read very much in that fandom, but I can probably rec you a few if you'd like.

Yeah, I notice that no one had signed up so rather than letting it be a fandom that died, I took my turn. ::gulps::

All the stuff I've found is Seth/Ryan - shocking that I would read the slash. Honestly!

*Nods* NaNo isn't for me either, but I think I know how to write Pieces of She. I just need to find more time to do it.

Ah, yes, wishlists that I must grant. Less than two weeks until I'm free of school for a while.:D
