So last night was the State of the Union. Our President scares me. It's nothing personal, sure he's a lovely man, and if I was just walking by him on the street, that'd be one thing...but he's running our country. And he scares me. I love how it's all about the evils that are Iran now - still not dealing with the fact that most of the terrorists from 9/11 came out of Saudi Arabia, are we?

I won't go on anymore because I don't want to start a real debate over here - I'll keep that for the regular journal...

However, I will share this link to an article with the brilliant Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame) that made me laugh and look forward to purchasing his book.

The thing is if people don’t say where they’re going after choir practice, this country is at risk. So I have been applying a certain amount of pressure on my son to tell me where he’s going. To begin with I simply put a bag over his head and chained him to a radiator…

I must have this book! Must have it!

Continuing with the five questions meme, I was asked some questions by [livejournal.com profile] carmen_sandiego. Keep bringing the questions! I love answering questions all about me because I'm very self-centered. Heh.

1. Do you find it difficult to write for so many different fandoms?

Oddly enough, not as much as I do when switching from writing for a fandom character to one of my original characters for my regular work. I guess it’s mostly because in most fandoms I stick with shorter stories and those usually come about out of some weird inspiration where the character’s voice has taken up residence in my head. It might be different if I was attempting much longer stories in each fandom, but I don’t know. It comes rather easily for me to switch gears like that – maybe I’m just schizophrenic?

2. If Sydney was suddenly killed/written out, and Alias had to keep going, who would you pick to take her place as the hero of the show?

I don’t know that I would still watch if Sydney was gone to be honest. Shows for me are very much about the characters, moreso than the plot. I get attached to the person and his/hers life…and I’d probably rather see the show just go off the air than continue with someone like Lauren (who I never cared for – not just because of Vaughn, but that’s a thing for another day) or Nadia. But if it had to keep going and I was going to watch it, I’d say probably Nadia at this point. She reminds me very much of Sydney at the beginning of the first season and she has the potential to be another strong female character. And I don’t think the show would work if it was based around a guy – it would lose a lot of its appeal.

3. Besides fic and television/fandom, what are your favourite hobbies?

Reading, going to movies, concerts, blowing things up on my Playstation. I used to travel a lot but then I got my own place and can’t afford it anymore (cries!). Tomorrow night I’m starting a knitting class, so maybe that will become a hobby…but I don’t know. I’m not a very crafty person and this could lead to tears.

4. How do you start your day in the morning?

There are two different ways. Days with the trainer at the gym begin no later that 6am. I get changed, eat a banana or yogurt, and go to the gym before work at 8:30am. Regular days I sleep until the very last possible second to shower, eat breakfast, and make it to work on time. I always say that I’ll get up early enough to chill out a little bit and watch the news, but it never happens.

5. Do you have any pets?

Sort of. I have an evil kitty named Tigger, but I can’t have pets at my apartment so the mother kept him. Besides, if she didn’t get to keep the cat after my sister and I moved out, she’d be crazier than she already is. Heh. I do want to get another kitty someday when I have a place to keep it – because I’m a crazy cat lover. I like dogs, but I’m allergic to most of them and they have drooling issues.

We're all familiar with those infamous "things I never want to see in a fanfic story again" lists. Sure, we all have mental lists of things that drive us crazy: bits of fanon that don't work with our ideas about canon, overused words, improbable scenarios, bad characterizations, etc. But what about the opposite? What are the things you want to see more of? (Even if other people think it's overdone.)

General (applies to all fandoms)

1. Good crossovers. I love a good crossover. I love it when even an implausible situation is made believable because of the writing and how it comes about.

2. Good banter. I'm a sucker for good dialogue and banter. I'll read a plotless story if you give me banter.

3. Good angst. Maybe it's insanity, but I love really good angst. I love to watch my favorite characters fall into pits of despair and get lost in the horrors that can be life if it's done well.

4. Good death!fic. The one thing I love more than good angst is a great story that involves killing off one of my favorite characters. Oh, sure, maybe it's "evil" but I love it nonetheless. I'm a sadist, I guess.

5. Good character pieces. I really am a character lover above all else. I'm more intrigued by what's going on in his/hers heads than most well-plotted stories.

And now by fandom specific:

Charmed Fandom

1. More Adult Chris! Especially angst! Especially him dealing with his issues with his father!

2. More Adult Chris with Adult Wyatt (good or evil, I'm not picky)

3. A crossover with Roswell! Maria having witch powers and interacting with Chris!

Roswell Fandom

1. Post Graduation episodes that focus on Michael/Maria.

2. Any stories that focus on Michael/Maria.

Lost Fandom

1. Charlie/Claire angst

2. Charlie/Clair future fic.

3. Those same types but for Shannon/Sayid.

Veronica Mars

1. As long as it's Veronica/Logan, I will love it.

--Yeah, I think that's good enough for the time being. Otherwise, I'll never stop. But really, dearest friends, feel free to write me any of these. I'd love you forever!
