tommygirl: (supernatural - dean/car otp)
Happy Supernatural day! And it looks to be a good one, even if it has that girl Meg with a mumbling problem!

Woo-hoo!

Let's party.

Okay, can't do that right now. Must write my Picture is Worth 1000 words fic so it can get posted. Have I mentioned how far behind on things I am? Damn, I suck at the whole writing thing lately. Life is kicking my butt like there is no tomorrow.

I mean, I was just at skip 350 or so and realized, "Self, you totally spaced on [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn appreciation day." So [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn dude, I have some drabbles of your favorites in the works, but it'll be late (shocking, I know...me...late with something.) And you totally rock and I adore you and everything you do for fandom and how much enjoyment you bring to livejournal!

Have I mentioned it's Supernatural night? I mean, there is also some American Idol preformances to look forward too, but that's not as cool as Dean and Sam Winchester.

Though the idea of Ace Young, Jensen Ackles, and Jared Padalecki hooking up together is pretty...intriguing.

My brain is broken, people.

FANFIC AUTHOR'S APPRECIATION WEEK - MARCH 6 THROUGH MARCH 13

Post to your LJ each day at least one of your favorite fanfic authors and why you love them, their work, and why they need more appreciation.

Day Six

I went with [livejournal.com profile] rachel_wilder because not only is she a good friend to have in any fandom (even if she refuses to share Matthew Fox with me) or that she shares my love of Joan and Kevin bonding in Joan of Arcadia stories, but because she writes amazingly well. Any fandom that she undertakes, it’s obvious that she has a love for the characters and the universe. She manages to build on it in wondrous ways.

She’s written Party of Five, Dark Angel, X-Files, and Joan of Arcadia fiction that fills me with love for the characters that I’m attached to.
Plus, maybe if more people go read her Five Stages WIP for JoA, she’ll update sooner...hee.

So check out her website: The Wilder Side

Day Seven

The person I chose for the seventh day was [livejournal.com profile] yahtzee because she writes these amazing stories that are filled with things that I’ll never be able to do. I’m very much envious of her able to cull out these outrageous plots and not only make them believable, but pull them off brilliantly. She writes in several fandoms that I adore including Alias, Lost and Joan of Arcadia to name a few.

I have yet to stumble upon a story that I don’t like or immediately get sucked into. She knows her characters and she knows how to get them to do almost anything without it seeming unlikely.

Some of my favorites include “Goodnight, Moon” (JoA), “Irenicon” (Alias), and “Inhabited by Winter” (Harry Potter) but check out all the stories.

**

There are several other writers that I think everyone should read though. [livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger writes amazing original characters into her stories and her Adult!Wyatt in charmed fandom is hard to beat. [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 writes wonderful stories in several different fandoms that always make me squee and giggle and brings a smile to my face. If it weren’t for the writings/graphics of [livejournal.com profile] literarylemming I’m not sure that I would’ve discovered the wonders that is Domilie. I admire [livejournal.com profile] zeplum for already tackling the fandom of BSG2003 with such skill – while I sit in the corner, hiding from the bunnies because I’ll never do them justice like she and so many others already do.

And that’s just a few off the top of my head. I’m probably missing a ton of others as well because there is so much great fic produced by so many wonderful authors all the time.

Day Five

Today I decided to go with [livejournal.com profile] aliaspiral because she continues to write amazing stories and she’s just a wonderful person to know within fandom. She writes in a myriad number of fandoms from Roswell to Gilmore Girls to Harry Potter and lately Lost. In each fandom, she nails the voices of the characters and writes stories that often make me squee.

Some of my favorites: Sweat (roswell), All the Things He Can’t Remember (GG), Shaking In Her Shoes (GG), Here (Lost)

Those may be my favorites, but I haven’t stumbled upon a bad story written by her yet. And aside from being a great writer in any fandom she undertakes, she is always quick to provide recs to stories if you’re looking for something she’s familiar with.

Plus, it doesn’t hurt that we tend to share a love of the same shows and ships (michael/maria) and dislike the same characters (die Max!).

So check out her stories and send her feedback: http://www.silverspiral.net/fic/index.php

Day 4

Today I decided to focus on one of my favorite Harry Potter writers, [livejournal.com profile] mistful. Yes, she’s a BNF and everything, but that doesn’t make her talent any less obvious. In my opinion, Maya writes the best fanon!Draco in her stories that I've yet to stumble across. Her Draco is still a brat and obnoxious, but unlike in canon, he has other layers to him, other things that matter aside from being said brat. Maya also brings the snark and humor with her stories, something I notice can sometimes be missing in the HP fandom – people taking it all so very seriously.

If you enjoy Harry/Draco that’s filled with angst or the idea of Draco as a rat that becomes the Gryffindor mascot, then you should definitely be reading Maya’s stories.

Day 3

Today I went with [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn. Not only because she writes great stories, but because she’s an amazing person within the Smallville fandom. She’s always quick to organization and unify fandom, always doing more than her share, and I always enjoy reading her livejournal because she seems to rarely waver from a positive fandom outlook. She offers writing, recs, reviews of episodes, and music to name a few.

She's just one of those people that I'm very happy to have stumbled upon in fandom and I think she deserves more recognition.

So yeah, check out her website and her livejournal!

Day 2

Today I'm focusing on someone who writes some of my favorite O.C. fics out there. [livejournal.com profile] sdlucly writes the Seth/Ryan with such ease that it's hard to imagine her stories not being directly taken from episodes. She writes Seth perfectly, her Ryan broods but not overly so, and rarely is Marissa mentioned (Happiness!!!). She puts those two in every situation imaginable, utilizes every genre from angst to comedy to supernatural, and I've always enjoyed it.

Plus, unlike myself and several other fanfiction authors I know, she churns out so many stories that any Seth/Ryan reader will be kept happy with the plethora of fiction available for reading.

You can find stories in her memories at livejournal: http://www.livejournal.com/tools/memories.bml?user=sdlucly

So I'm starting a day late, but I loved the idea of this. Who couldn't use a little love every once and awhile?

I'm going to start with someone who is very dear to my heart. [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy, known to some as Miss Storyteller, and to most as Steph. I'm starting with her because before she was a good friend/cyber daughter, she wrote a story that I adored in the Nsync fandom. Since then she has branched out to write in other fandoms such as Gilmore Girls, QAF UK, and Harry Potter.

I will warn that she, like me, often suffers from an inability to finish anything quickly - so if you start something that's a WIP, be prepared for along wait.

Otherwise, she's sarcastic and well-versed in pop-culture, providing fun reads.
