tommygirl: (american idol - cook & puppy)
Thanks to the Vampire Diaries friending meme, I've added a few friends. I also added a few friends a few weeks ago, so I figured it was that time again where I post a little bit about myself. I've done it the past here, here, and here.

Some things have changed a bit, but mostly, I'm very good at saying a whole lot of nothing about myself. I do warn that my mother died this past January and it has taken it's toll on me. I don't say this for pity or attention, just to make you aware that there may be times where it seems like I'm not posting or commenting, but I'm almost always still reading. I just tend to avoid bringing drama to a place that I think of as supposed to be fun.

I'm a writer, a liberal from South Jersey, who works for a nonprofit environmental company, who is pro-choice and somewhat anti-religion, though I believe in God. Most of that doesn't make it into this journal at all as I try to keep that stuff to my personal journal. However, if you find that fact that I feel these things impossible to deal with, go on your merry way and I will harbor no ill will. Maybe a little. Okay, it really depends on my mood, but it would definitely be kept to myself and not shared with the world, that I can promise.

Fandom

My fandoms continue to change and expand based on the day and/or if [personal profile] iamtheenemy, my partner in crime, has decided to get me addicted to something (don't worry, I always return the favor). Supernatural still owns my heart because Sam and Dean Winchester are SamandDean!!!, but I love many things, especially if they have hot boys. And if they have hot angsty boys or cute socially-awkward geniuses? I'm hooked.

My most active fandoms: Supernatural, Criminal Minds, NCIS, Numb3rs, and Twilight. I'm also madly in love with Harper's Island in addition to Vampire Diaries at the moment. I'm very polyfannish. And I have a huge love of short-lived, canceled shows.

Main Communities I run (along with [personal profile] iamtheenemy): [community profile] polyfandomrecs - our reccing journal, though I'm pretty sure I haven't recced much in months; [community profile] moviefanfiction - an archive for any/all movie-based fanfiction; [community profile] bookfanfiction - an archive for any/all book-based fanfiction; [profile] 25moments - a prompt table, but with no claiming necessary as some of us like writing many fandoms/pairings; and [personal profile] quillandink - a writing community with prompts and such.

How to Find Me

--I did a post back in June on how to find me, but here's the one for dreamwidth. It's locked to friends, but basically, it lists all my other journals.

**

I think that's pretty much everything. Don't feel pressured to read or overwhelmed. I'm really easy-going for the most part and love making new friends.
tommygirl: (angel - fred - nerd beauty)
So thanks to [livejournal.com profile] medie, I've written a whole page (which for me lately = TONS) of girl!Niko & Cal in Target fic. Yes, Veritas: The Quest fic. In Target. Hee.

Hopefully, this page is a breakthrough and I'll be able to get my writing mojo back.

You know what would help with that? Me not watching Transformers every single time it's on. I've developed an addiction to this movie.

**

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] marishna, I have a journal at inksome.com. I'm sure it will surpise y'all to know that I'm tommygirl over there. Yes, shocking.
tommygirl: (supernatural - brothers wrestling)
I have pulled out my surefire happy-inducing movie to watch. I pulled out Miracle, which is the 1980 Olympic hockey team story. As a girl who was going to Flyers games from the womb and has been obsessed with hockey her whole life, I adore this movie so very much. I remember watching this game with my dad when I was four years old. I remember cheering and chanting "USA" (I was *four* and easily swayed by promises of being tossed in the air), but I didn't really get it until later.

And I just love how these guys accomplished something that no one thought was possible and with sheer determination and hard work, they were able to do it. And it makes me believe that anything is possible.

Plus, the movie has really cute boys. And nothing can ever go wrong with that.

Anyway, if you've never seen the movie, I highly recommend it. And if you don't find yourself cheering and clapping at points (and yes, I know how it turns out), I'm not sure what I think.

I also watched The Seeker: Dark is Rising tonight. Nowhere near up to par with the amazing books and they took some weird liberties with the movie that I'm not sure I really understood the point of. Overall, not nearly as terrible as I expected and it had Nine from DW.

As my friend, Jason, said to me the other day. It really does come down to hot boys with me.

**

Can someone give me the html code so that I can add one of those boxes with info that can be copied into comments? It's for something fun I'm working on.

**

With everything that's going on lately, I feel that I should remind people where else I can be found.

Insanejournal: tommygirl - I use this account a lot. I don't crosspost, mostly because I never think to use semagic, except for stories.

Journalfen: tommygirl - I mostly just check my friends list there for those that moved over there.

I still have greatest journal, but it seems to have tons of issues, so I just don't sign in there anymore.
tommygirl: (supernatural - sam mirror)
This day is going so slow and I'm very bored at work. Sure, I could be writing, but I'm just not...and even my work email chat buddies and our dirty minds are not keeping me from being bored. It's sad.

If anyone wants to chat, gmail chat = tommygirl828.

Or just feel free to smack me and remind me of how many challenges I need to write fic for.

**

Speaking of Challenges...a letter for my SPN Holiday Challenge person

a little letter for you... )

**

What am I going to do once I'm caught up on Numb3rs? Part of the fun of a show you never caught onto at first is getting to ingest episodes at a very high rate. Soon that won't be possible. How sad.

I guess it will be time to catch up on Gossip Girl and life as I'm behind on both.
tommygirl: (the class - kat & ethan)
So yesterday I asked you guys to share with me your favorite schmoop fics (any fandom/any pairing), but only [livejournal.com profile] skuf has responded.

::prods y'all::

Come on, guys. It can have angst, just as long as it gives me a happy ending. But it can just be all fluff too. Share your favorite schmoop fics!

**

In case anyone is interested:

- Find me on Goodreads. If you're a reader, especially an avid one, I highly recommend this site to you. And be sure to friend me!

- Find me on Bakespace. It's for both "cookers and cakers" but I really only fall into the baking category. I've found some great recipes this way and I would love to friend those of you who bake/cook as well.

- Find me on Twitter. I still enjoy Twitter even if I do have trouble with the less is more philosophy.
tommygirl: (brothers & sisters - brothers)
Attempts at catching up on friends list will have to wait until tomorrow as I'm falling asleep at my desk and just read the same entry three times and still didn't really process it. Fun times. How lame am I that on a Friday night at 10pm I'm ready to collapse? I'm not that old yet - this is just sad.

With the latest round of livejournal drama, the list of ways to contact me via other journals/email/chat is located here. I have no real plans to vacate livejournal as I'm a creature of habit, but I do enjoy insane journal's set-up. I linked my vox account and feel free to friend that, but it will never be fannish stuff as I tend to use it for more personal blogging.

So many journals, so little time.
tommygirl: (fall out boy - group)
The recent downtime from Livejournal (along with the ongoing battles with the TOS stuff) have me thinking it would be good to reiterate where y'all can find me. I tried to friend most of you that I could figure out on my own over at greatest journal and insane journal (alas, I have no way to set up a journal fen account Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] arby_m, I now have journalfen!).

So here ya go...

The Other Journals

- My Greatest Journal - Dastardlyspoon - I've had this account since GJ first came along, but only recently started using it. I mostly only utilize this one when LJ is down.

- My Insane Journal - Tommygirl - This one I've been using more often. I plan to slowly move more of my fiction over there for archiving...and I also use for muse stuff as well. I like IJ much better than GJ overall and one day when I have a few bucks to spare I'm gonna buy the permanent account.

- My Vox - Tommygirl - This one I've been using regularly since I set it up. I tend to do the QoTD and use it to track books I'm reading. It's much more personal than anything fannish.

- My JournalFen- Tommygirl

- My GoodReads Account - Tommygirl - This isn't a blog, but rather a place for keeping track of books you've read/books you want to read/etc. I've become addicted to this site.

Email

1) tommygirl828 (at) gmail (dot) com - my main account
2) storydivagirl (at) hotmail (dot) com - I mostly use just to have my lj comments to go there - but I do check it.

Chatting

I no longer have Yahoo and while I have the LJ chat program installed, I don't really sign into it.

AIM: storydivagirl
MSN: tommygirl

Feel free to add me to any/all of the above. Feel fre to email/ping me on AIM at any time. I like to think I'm friendly.

So these are all the places to find me if livejournal is down or there is a fandom exodus. Despite everything though, I do still love livejournal, mostly because I'm comfortable here.
tommygirl: (supernatural - the hug)
Despite the fact that it began as a rainy Monday morning with me in severe pain, the day is going reasonably fast at the moment. ::knocks on wood::

**

In case anyone is interested, in addition to greatest journal (dastardlyspoon), I set up an insane journal as tommygirl. I friended anyone that I recognized on both accounts, but let me know if I'm missing you. I still plan to keep livejournal as my primary place unless fandom makes some mass exodus.

**

I can't get the idea of Dean Winchester as a dad out of my head. I blame this completely on [livejournal.com profile] iamentheos, who had me write some future fic for her like that. He would just be such a great dad and I find that incredibly HOT. And really, rec me to your favorite Dean-as-a-dad fics.

**

Speaking of Supernatural, in about an hour, I will close up week one of the Supernatural Hiatus Fandom Frenzy Week # 1, which asked for your favorite story/vid that was the best example of how you think of Dean and Sam.

So if you have something to share, post it in that entry. And then be on the look out for the week two question.
tommygirl: (supernatural - dean (tommygirl))
The drama going on continues to unfold around us and I'm still not sure what to make of it. My journal will continue to remain unlocked as much as it has always been over here. Quite frankly, if my journal ends up getting deleted because I've posted a few Sam/Dean stories where they are CONSENTING ADULTS and have clearly marked it not for children, then I'm not sure I want to be posting my stuff here anymore.

Livejournal is going to have to do something to work with fandom at some point, as I'm guessing the collective we (all fandoms) make up a hell of a lot of their revenues. I can't imagine they want to alienate us all away from using their product.

That said, I went around over at greatest journal and tried to friend those of you on my friends list that I found there. So if you're wondering who dastardlyspoon is, it's me. And feel free to friend me over there if you wish. While I'd hate to ever leave livejournal after so long, dude, greatest journal gives me SO MANY icon slots!

**

Fannish Goals for today:

-Finish [livejournal.com profile] iamentheos's first prompt
-Post some recs
-Finish the last of the first kiss drabbles (so if you want one, go here)

**

I ended up signing up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_harlequin because Nan is evil and posted really interesting and ping-worthy prompts. So yes, another challenge. [livejournal.com profile] larah33 and [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 are going to make a community that's all about pestering me - I see it now. Heh.
tommygirl: (supernatural - my boys)
Happy Supernatural Day! I haven't decided if I'm going to watch the first part tonight yet or not. I might wait and watch what is sure to kill me all at once. But then again, I'm not sure I'll just ignore it sitting on my dvr for a week.

**

A real update will hopefully follow, but for now, I just wanted to post that I've seen everyone on livejournal starting to add Twitter so I've been adding those that I notice. I've had one of those for a bit and now I have an excuse to use it - http://twitter.com/tommygirl

So if you wonder who has friended you, it's just me under such a SHOCKING alias of "tommygirl".
tommygirl: (the spork)
Dear livejournal,

I'm glad you're back. I'm a bit more than mildly addicted, you see, and it was a very sad Saturday. My bubblefic, however, thanks you, as I was able to get it written rather than playing around with you.

Missed you terribly,

Tommygirl

So yes, livejournal was down. In case you're interested, I can be reached when livejournal is down at:

My Greatest Journal where I'm dastardlyspoon - this account only really gets used when livejournal is down.

My Vox Account where I'm Tommygirl - I actually use my Vox account frequently. Mostly for QoTD and book/movie/tv stuff.

AIM: storydivagirl
GOOGLE CHAT: tommygirl828
EMAIL: tommygirl828 (at) gmail.com or storydivagirl (at) hotmail.com

As always, feel free to friend those or not. Feel free to chat me up anytime I'm on AIM or google.

**

Fortunately, [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy and [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 were not my assignments for various challenges and our beta relationships have not been affected. Woo-hoo. I was a bit worried about getting assigned Steph there for a bit, not realizing until too late that I should've NOT signed up to write for her requests. But yay. Have already begun discussing [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and other pieces with Steph, trying to figure out the "oh my god what was I thinking? How did I think I could handle this many challenges?"

**

In other news, I am way behind on my fanfiction reading due to Nano, school, and work. Also because I get home on weekdays and want to DIE, so I just veg out with my soap operas, begging Jessica not to marry Antonio and to run off with Nash.

I have some Supernatural recs saved though so I might put up a small batch over at [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs.

**

Finally, a request, what are some songs that you guys associate with Dean Winchester? I'm looking to make a Dean mix for my Nano writing. So I'm up for all sorts of suggestions (and if you upload it, you rock even more!)

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (carrie - sex & city)
So just in case livejournal is down longer than two hours tonight, [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn has set up a place for comment fun over at greatest journal.

http://madelyn.greatestjournal.com/3583.html

Also, if any of you have accounts over there as well, feel free to friend me there. I really only use it as a back-up for livejournal, but on very rare occasions post to it. Over at greatest journal I am dastardlyspoon - a name only [livejournal.com profile] hollyhearth would understand. Hee.

**

I have ingested much sugar and did a bunch of recs over at [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs (Most of which were RPS - Jared/Jensen - and Supernatural...anyone surprised by this?). I should write my Supernatural Gen Ficathon piece, but too much sugar making my brain bounce all over.

**

Okies off for a bit.

Ciao.

FYI...I got the google talk thing set up on my computer. I friended some of you that listed your names and such, but feel free to friend if you want - tommygirl828 (at) gmail.com

I doubt I'll be signed in very often, as I rarely have time for yahoo chat or AIM as it is - and I tend to go with AIM (storydivagirl) - but yeah, I figure I'd give it a try. I like shiny objects.
