the wish list meme 2005

So last year, there was the wish list meme that went around before the holidays where people could do nice things for others…well, I’ve decided it was time to restart that. Because I’d love to do things for the people on my friends list for the holidays, but I have no money…so post this in your journal and let’s see what can come of it.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. If you're capable of doing so, make a monetary donation or donate blood/time to the Red Cross.
2. A banner and help figuring out how to make a layout for my journal based off any of my interests and some icons to go with it – I’m graphically challenged, my friends. It’s sad.
3. I love the sibling bond and would love fic that deals with that from any of my fandoms – Lost, Charmed, Supernatural, Tru Calling, etc.
4. A 24/Alias crossover story where Jack Bauer and Sydney Bristow get together.
5. Drabbles/ficlets on any of my interests.
6. Hot fanfic based off interests, especially some bad!boy Clark fiction (Smallville) and/or Vince/Eric (Entourage)
7. Any songs one considers amazing.
8. A Jack/Sawyer story where the two reminisce about suckiness that is the holidays and end up making out!
9. A Harry/Oliver drabble/ficlet/story. So long as it’s Harry/Oliver, length doesn’t matter.
10. Some angst fic. Love the angst fic, especially in O.C., Charmed, and Sports Night fandoms.
11. Books. Used books, new books, all genres of books. I love books. If that's something you want to share, just email me (tommygirl828@gmail.com)

Date: 2005-10-12 09:06 pm (UTC)I'll be happy to go in and see if they'll let me donate blood; I used to do it all the time, but I'm not sure what the policy is regarding diabetes and hypertension. If not blood, I can give cash.
But I'm not posting my own list this year. I did it last year and then things got away from me and most of the wishes I wanted to do for others didn't get done. Bad me. No cookie.

That's why I started it a little earlier this year. I'm hoping the extra time will give me more time to do things for people - last year I only did a few.
