Four days until [livejournal.com profile] winchestercon and my trip to Los Angeles. I'm very excited and slightly nervous as I've never been to something like this before. And after the con is over, I'm hanging with my second family until Thursday doing fun, touristy stuff. Except for Tuesday when I have nothing planned - so if anyone is in the LA area and wants to hang on Tuesday, let me know. Otherwise, I'll probably just laze about.

Also, if you can't attend wincon, be sure to check out [livejournal.com profile] win_non_con, Not Quite Winchestercon! It was a lot of fun last year and I'm sure it will rock just as much this time around.

I'm slowly going through the beginning of fall television and trying to figure out what I want to watch. And I'm very excited because tonight is new Chuck and Heroes. I can definitely say that Chuck is my new favorite show of the season. I love everything about it and always want more.

But let's talk returning television like Friday Night Lights

Matt & Landry are still BFF and I love them. I love that Matt is jealous of "the swede" and I love how Landry's friendship with Tyra has grown, but Matt still teases him about it.

Landry is trying out for football! It's adorable!

I love Lyla becoming a born again. And her conversation with Tim. He is such an ass, but it's awesome.

I'm not sure what I think of the new coach. I'm guessing we're supposed to hate him, but I'm pretty much indifferent. I just want my coach back because Eric is hot and he belongs home with his family.

I'm also not sure what the writers are doing with Julie. I can understand her being angry with her dad and disappearing because she feels left out of the new family dynamic, but I don't get why she just can't break up with Matt. If she's interested in someone else, that's fine. She's in high school, not married...just don't jerk him around. And it's mostly because it doesn't seem like a Julie thing to do. Throughout the first season she was always direct and honest, so I don't know about that.

I love Coach and Mrs. Coach. I love them a lot.

Tyra is hot. I love her friendship with Landry. I love that Landry came to her aid, but lordy, what is wrong with them?

If you're not watching this show, I *highly* recommend you check out season one. it's only 19.99 and has that guarantee and you will get sucked in. It's just so great. Neither me or my sister are even fans of football, but we both adore this show.

Ugly Betty this week was cute.

Henry is back and Christina has told him the truth about Charlie and how the baby might not be his. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out and if Betty decides to give Henry a chance right away or not. I hope so. Can't they have a bit of happiness.

I love Alexis/Alex. I love that Daniel has been there to help and wants to be honest, but doesn't want to hurt her either. And I'm hoping that their father is for real with his attempts to reconnect with his family.

I'm glad Betty looked out for herself with the deal and got her father home. Bradford's personal life really isn't Betty's responsibility - it's none of her business actually - and it's not like she had any proof of what happened. At least some good can come out of the whole thing.

Mark and Justin are my favorite things ever. I love Mark and I love how he takes Justin under his wing and tries to cheer up "a little person."

Finally, this show is getting back to happy melodrama, which is what I love best about it. I don't like depressing on this show. I get enough of that with other things.

I started the pilot of Moonlight, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. I don't know if it was the mood I was in on Saturday when I went to watch it or just the sight of JD in suspenders that just ruined it. I'll try to go back to it later, but for now, I'm going to keep choosing Friday Night Lights, which I know is made of awesome.

New Shows I'm Watching: Chuck, Reaper, Dirty, Sexy, Money, Private Practice, and Pushing Daisies

If I'm bored: Journeymen, Life

Returning Shows: Supernatural, Heroes, Ugly Betty, NCIS, Dexter, Friday Night Lights, Brothers & Sisters, Prison Break

I've given up on Smallville and I'm so far behind on Stargate Atlantis at this point, I just don't really care. Same goes for Lost, but since that's not back until January, I might have time to catch up if I want. I'm pretty torn on Bionic Woman. It's crap, but Katee Sackhoff is awesome has Sarah.

FNL! FNL! I agree re Julie. It didnt' seem like a Julie thing to do, though I did like her Dad saying, no one will love you any the less for dumping him - like, she feels like nothing is wrong with Matt so it's a 'bad' thing for her to do to break it up with him.

And the end...Tyra/Landry and their...well. not sure I like this plotline, but hey ho!

Awesome pimpage too dude, thansk!

Yeah, I'm hoping Julie listens to her very smart Papa. It will be sad for Matt/Julie to be over, but I'll deal if she doesn't jerk him around.

I'm not sure about that Tyra/Landry thing either, especially since his father is a cop. It just seems contrived.

It felt very contrived to give them a plotline but ah well. I trust them to do something good with it. I hope...

I can understand Betty's reluctance - she's got to keep a secret from Daniel, though she didn't seem to have any trouble doing the same to Henry. I've never totally bought the might-not-be-Henry's-baby line - Charlie didn't strike me as the cheating kind.

Yeah, I understand Betty's reluctance from a friendship pov more than boss one, but I still think that every once-and-awhile she needs to look out for herself first. (And that's because Daniel is the guy she is meant for, Henry is just the cute nerd-stop along the way)

So far, Moonlight has not impressed me. I just don't think the writing or acting is all that great. I'm going to continue to record it - but I'm not on the edge of my seat to watch it.

Unfortunately, so far I feel similarly about Chuck. I actually really like the concept, the characters and the acting...but the actual episode plots haven't yet excited me too much. But I haven't given up on this one. I'm determined to like it.

Pushing Daisies, on the other hand, is ... yes. It's a big pile of yes.

That's weird about Chuck, if only because you and I usually have very similar taste. But basically, I think part of my love of it is I'm basically envision Seth Cohen as a spy. heh. Oh, I love it.

Pushing Daisies had a great premiere but I'm worried for two reasons: 1) will the quirkiness get annoying after awhile and 2) will the quirkiness turn most people off and make it go away?

I have the first two episodes of Moonlight on dvd still, so maybe after my vacation, I'll give them a try again, but twenty minutes into the pilot, I'm not that attached.

The pilot was a bit weak, but I still enjoyed it. They had me when they started the show off with a shirtless Mick. lol.

Episode 2 of Moonlight was soooooooooo much better than the pilot. Good story, great scenes between Mick & Beth and Mick & Josef, and no Jason Dohring in suspenders. And episode 3 is looking like it could be even better. ;) :-D

I will probably go back and watch it when I have some extra time. I have the first two episodes on a dvd. It's weird because I love the cast, just twenty minutes in, it wasn't holding my attention.

Yeah, maybe after my vacation, I'll go back and give it my two-episode chance (I tend to give shows two episodes to hook me or I give it up).

The fans I've talked to have all agreed about episode 2 being waaaaaaaay better than episode 1. Even reviews of the episode on other sites have been positive. I read most of the reviews of the pilot. Those were mixed, with most being bad. People seemed to like this week's ep a lot more and are looking forward to the 3rd, especially after that nice little cliffhanger this week.

I won't say anything else about episode 2 because I don't want to spoil it.

When I watch a new show, I try to give it a few episodes, get to know the characters a little, try to follow the story lines. Then there are the shows I give up on after 1 episode, like Tell Me You Love Me on HBO. Ugh. There's an hour of my life I can't have back.

I totally gave up on the Bionic Woman. I sat there half way through the second episode trying to figure out what shadowy government agency was doing what and realized that I just didn't care...turns out that I wasn't watching Dark Angel or Alias for the dynamic strong woman character.

Have an awesome time in LA. I have done that kind of thing a couple of times and it's so awesome. I hope you have a wonderful time.

*Nods* I wasn't sure about Julie's attitude myself. Why is she leading on poor Matt? And I'm not sure I like this swede guy.

But my heart went out to Landry and Tyra. Oh, no!

*Hangs head* I've gotta admit...I'm in love with Moonlight. He's pretty, he's angsty. Whee!

My friend wanted to watch even though I thought it would be horrible. And my god it was bad. He was standing in daylight and not being set on fire.

I'm pretty torn on Bionic Woman. It's crap, but Katee Sackhoff is awesome has Sarah.

Thank god someone else that thinks crap. We turned half way through the first episode it was so bad.
