holiday fun

I am nothing but a lemming and this is a very interesting idea.
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
1. If you're capable of doing so, donate blood to the red cross. They always need it, especially if you're like me and are the universal donor. (just drop me a comment that you donated so I know!)
2. paid livejournal/user picture time is always welcome.
3. pretty icons of any of my interests that are listed and/or a livejournal layout because I'm graphically-challenged and unable to do such things very well - anything based on any of my interests or paintings from artists welcome!
4. A 24/Alias crossover story where Jack Bauer and Sydney Bristow get together (if it involves a devastated jackass Vaughn, all the better).
5. drabbles on any of my interests, especially my new OTP of Harry/Oliver!
6. some bad!boy Clark fiction (Smallville)
7. some angsty!Chris fiction (Charmed)
8. A copy of Harry Potter and Prisoner of Azkaban on dvd (Widescreen version preferred)
9. if someone could pay off my car that would be wonderful! Or maybe my undergraduate loans! Or pay my rent for a couple of months! Any of those would be more than welcome!
10. Tons of fanfiction for me!
An Addendum of Sorts - A Take on #10
1. I know I mentioned the Harry/Oliver, but really, that would be great!
2. Some fluffy Sweiss (alias)
3. And the Ryan/Seth is always welcome.
4. Basically any fanfiction based on any of my loves! Crossovers, AU's, OCs, whatever!
If you've posted a wishlist and it's not linked to the Masterlist of Everyone’s wishlists for holidays, please provide me with a link below. Because I've been somewhat AWOL from this livejournal while I was writing/battling illness and haven't uncovered everyone's lists.

Date: 2004-12-01 05:17 pm (UTC)I'm looking into #1. This will be the first time I'm able to give blood (if they'll take it this time, even), because every time there's been a blood drive here, I've had a tattoo too recently. But I'm going to see if I can't just get an appointment at the Red Cross and stop being so worried about giving away my blood. If I'm able, it will happen because of you.

Date: 2004-12-02 05:59 am (UTC)My significant other gives blood regularly, and has just started giving platelets as well. I think we're going to go in together, so I don't have to do it alone for the first time, and because more blood is better.
I'm so glad I could make your day a little brighter!
In fact, you've inspired me to try to get a group of people together, and to see if we can't do a work donation or something like that. Thank you.

Date: 2004-12-01 06:17 pm (UTC)I would donate blood, but I tend to be anemic, so I doubt that my blood would be wanted.
