In the game of Mare versus colon, colon is kicking my ass. I am home again today and the doctor is oh so useful. I'm seriously at the point where I've decided to try some homeopathic type things for this. It's just messing up my life horribly at the moment and is really no fun. I mean, as much as I complain about my sinuses, I can still pretty much function through it, but this is just awful.

And yes, I tell myself to stop whining, but I don't want to. I want hot Winchester boys to come and shoot rock salt at my doctors for not helping!

**

Speaking of Winchesters...Happy Supernatural Day! We're into the last of the season and I'm both excited and saddened, as I don't like not having new Winchester stories on my television.

There is also new Ugly Betty tonight! I haven't watched last week's episode yet as UB is one of the shows that I watch with my sister and she and I were working different schedules this week, making watching stuff together hard.

I am now completely caught up on what has aired of Robin Hood on the BBC America. I've told myself to just wait for Saturday nights, but a part of me just wants to download the remainder of the season. It's so good. Robin is hot. Marian is kick-ass. And it's just a fun, light show...sometimes I need that. Anyone know of any good Robin/Marian fic out there? Or even Robin gen fic? He really is pretty. I'm not feeling the slash for this show - not saying it couldn't happen, considering they're all merry men living in Sherwood Forrest, but I just like the canon of the Robin hood story.

I'm wondering if I should even bother to watch the episodes of Drive on my dvr that I haven't seen yet. On the one hand, it has Nathan Fillion. On the other hand, it's already been cancelled and why get attached. Stupid Fox. It never gives a show a chance to build an audience.

**

It's pretty sad when my fannish to-do list is getting as long as my real life lists. I'm working to get organized in hopes that it will free up time in the long run for the things that I love...but in the process of getting organized, things are currently falling to the wayside.

Now I think I will go reread Twilight and New Moon. My sister just finished re-reading them and she wants me to write her an Edward/Bella fic. So it's research. Hee.
tommygirl: (fandom is funny)
Seriously weekend, where have you gone? I didn't even exercise this weekend (not allowed from doctor and mom) so that actually provided *extra* hours to my day. What is going on?

I did head to Borders with the mother because we are bibliophiles and must constantly stock up (and I use the library too - it's so sad). They had the Buffy Season 8 comic! It was the last one so I snatched it up. My mother just rolled her eyes at me, but she cannot talk. She is just obsessive about her shows and loves. I mean, she named me after a Jane Austen character for goodness sake!

**

So Sweet Charity was such awesome fun! And I managed to snag a few fannish fun things without breaking the bank. I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to offer anything more than my services due to lack of fundage, but it all worked out in the end. I'm very excited about it. Maddest props to [livejournal.com profile] lithium_doll for organizing and running the whole thing. A whole lot of money was raised for RAINN and good fannish times are ahead. It's seriously times like this that I love fandom. It reminds me that overall people are generous and kind.

So yes, [livejournal.com profile] cricketkate, I am yours for the fanfiction taking. I hope I don't disappoint, darling. Hee. (And what I said in the email holds - since I totally didn't expect to go for that much money, I'm adding an extra story to the mix. So three stories, instead of two).

**

Okay, I need to go beta for people before they kill me and the pain returns, causing me to collapse.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (supernatural - brothers)
New Ugly Betty tonight and it looks like a fun episode with some Mark & Betty interaction to the max.

Also, it goes without saying, but...HAPPY SUPERNATURAL DAY! Less than two hours here on the East Coast until the new episode airs. I am very excited. I only hope that my meds don't kick me on my ass and knock me out before it's over. I would be a very sad Tommygirl.

I finally had to give up on the friends list when I got to skip 300. Between craziness at work and other things, I just had to surrender to the fact that I missed stuff. I hate that, but such is life sometimes.

I have fandom ideas brewing in my brain, but no time to act on them at the moment. I keep saying, "This weekend I'll get to it" but it always ends up postponed yet another week. So I'm sorry if I haven't been a whole lot of fannish fun lately. I'm working on it, I swear.

Anyway, here's to hoping for the elusive Sam & Dean hug.

Ciao.

In making the rounds on my friends list, I stumbled upon this little gem about making Supernatural fandom BNF free. And the problem I find with things like this - if you're really trying to to make a change (which I do think in a way this person was attempting - as she makes some good suggestions for newbies) - focus on the solutions rather than calling people out by name and implying things about them. Because even though she didn't "hate" on anyone, going a negative route won't garner positive results.

1) Fandom is what you make of it. I do believe that. Sure, there are things out of your control. Wank and craziness is going to happen from time to time, but for the most part, each of us decides what are online life is going to be. If you want more feedback on your stories (and I do agree that we all love comments), post it around. Sign up for challenges so you're interacting with more potential readers. Do something about it. If you want a bigger friends list, don't just friend people, but start conversations with them. And decide what you want out of your friends list ahead of time. For example, for the most part, I think of mine as a reading list...sure, I've made great friendships, but it's a list of journals of people who share my interests, produce fic/vids/recs/icons that I enjoy, and individuals I can have random conversations with via comments.

2) On that note, I really have to ask - are BNFs honestly that unapproachable? Because the list from that post? I've chatted with most of those girls at various points via comments or emails and they were all quite willing to talk back. Is it just a fear of reaching out to people? Because that's not the BNF's fault, but yours.

3) You've got to be reasonable. The more good stories you write, the more comments you're going to get. Most of these BNFs are classified as such because they produce a lot of really enjoyable fic. But I'm sure if you took the time to ask any of them about things, they'd tell you the earlier stories didn't start out with tons of comments.

4) I'm all for commenting on more fic that you read. I personally do my best to comment on all the stories that I enjoy, especially the ones I end up reccing, but I'm not always great about it. However, I find it rather insulting that if I leave feedback for a better known author, I'm fawning all over them.

And I think that's my main problem with the entire post that [livejournal.com profile] impertinence made. She talks to fandom as though it's comprised of idiots. I'm a grown woman. I know what I like, what I don't like, and I don't need to be scolded into doing anything because a particular person isn't getting what they want out of fandom. And really, that's how that whole post read. A few good ideas, but they were lost in this tirade of how everyone in fandom needs to do this and that.

You want an example of how to do it: [livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger created a community for Lesser Known Fen, where people could post recs/pimp journals of people who create really great things in fandom, but don't always get recognition. There were no demands, no bitchery...she just went about making a positive. That's what you do. (The community is [livejournal.com profile] littlenamefan if you're interested!)

**

Anyway, I'm hoping to get caught up on massive amounts of reading and writing this weekend. I really would like to do some more with my Dean Winchester Crossover 'O Doom so that I could get it to Steph at some point.

Oh, and Steph and I are at it again. We've begun plans for a challenge idea, but we're gonna wait a few months until both our lives are a little less crazy. So expect more on that to come soon. But really, she and I...are we the best people to have these ideas? We're great at ideas, bad at follow through most of the time.

Hopefully there will be more fannish fun stuff coming later, but for now I'm hoping to finish up the work week.

Ciao!
tommygirl: (charmed - brothers1)
Dear God, it should be illegal that I had to be out of my house by 6:10am today to get to the gym. Seriously. It doesn't help that my trainer is evil. Hot, but evil. And so now I'm hobbling around my office all sad like.

And really, MSNBC can start covering actual news any time they want. I'm about at the point where I'm gonna throw the television across the gym floor if I see anymore on Anna Nicole Smith or Britney's shaved head. There is actual news going on. Let's talk about how Senator John McCain is turning into a hypocritical dick. I mean, he's Republican so there have always been things I disagreed with the man on, but overall, I respected him. He served his country. He didn't give into the whims of the christian right.

But now he's just. He's hired the guy who basically called him insane when he was in the primaries against Bush. He's totally become the White House's bitch because he wants the nomination. And now he's showing up at Abstinence Only rallies and swearing to overturn Roe vs. Wade when he used to be quite moderate in that area.

What a huge dick.

**

Let's focus on happier things. Television. Heroes won out again last night because I hold out hope that I will once again have Peter/Nathan touching.

My feelings on the episode...spoilers ahoy... )

I also got caught up on Brothers & Sisters yesterday. I seriously love this show and I can never really explain why. I suffer mocking at the hands of my sister and friends for loving it, but it's good stuff. And there are cute boys. The only real downside is Rob Lowe plays a Republican Senator. He will always be Sam Seaborne, the democrat, to me. I just truly love the family dynamics at work on this show, and I'm totally a sucker for the sibling relationship so this just...so good.

**

I know there was already a community set up as a multifandom ongoing challenge for "What If", but it never seemed to get off the ground. So I was thinking of starting my own one up...with bi-weekly what if challenges that would be answered with drabbles/ficlets/stories.

Like "What if you knew you were going to die in twenty-four hours, what would you do?" And then you answer it for a character.

I have all the What If? books so I would have the prompts easily available.

Anyone interested?

**

Alrighty, I'm behind on the friends list, so I'm off to attempt to catch up.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (blade trinity - king)
No really, how is my weekend already over? I didn't do anything. How could it go so fast? Sister's birthday gift has been purchased. Had a surprise visit from the boy. And went to the gym. Oh, I live an interesting life.

A random multifandom poll because really, that's all I can manage... )

Lazy may be my favorite mood on this set. Just look at the Sammy on the bed. GAH.
tommygirl: (alias - sweiss)
It's just been one of those days and it seems that I'm not the only one to have one. I just decided to leave work this morning because I wasn't getting anything done, my head was killing me, and I was just...in a bad mental place for no real reason.

Stupid February and stupid snow! If it weren't for all the exceptionally cool people I know born during this month, I would revoke its membership in the yearly calendar.

**

So it looks like next year's Winchestercon is being moved back to October in Los Angeles. That was right around the time that [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy and I were thinking about seeking out our first con experience. And of course it would be together because we are co-dependent fools of fandom who can do NOTHING without the other. Plus, Los Angeles is where my second family lives and I haven't been out to visit for awhile...hhhmmm...

Might be fun. Anyone already know that they're going for sure?

**

I downloaded all the past Ugly Betty episodes so that my sister and I could get my mother hooked on the show. This could backfire, seeing as she has now become *obsessed* with Gilmore Girls to the point that every night when I return home from work she is watching the repeats on the Family Channel and will actually "Shh" me if I dare to talk.

But really, who can't love Betty? And Henry? And Daniel? And the future of Betty/Daniel forever and ever?

**

[livejournal.com profile] dragonsinger has created some very cool communities today that I will pimp properly when my brain is working and I'm not incredibly lazy.

**

Finally, to any new friends from the friending meme! Welcome! Just jump in and chat. I don't bite, unless it's Jensen's neck, and I like to think I'm very easy going. So yes, welcome to the craziness that is Tommygirl in fandom.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (entourage - vince & eric)
Happiest of birthdays to both [livejournal.com profile] ethrosdemon and [livejournal.com profile] shattered! I hope you both have a fabulous day and are completely pampered!

**

Another Monday morning is upon me and I'm so not in the mood for it, especially since it's freezing. Bah.

But what can I do?

I had Gibbs/DiNozzo centered dreams last night, which were wonderful. I think it comes from starting in on my season 4 episodes. Soon I will be up-to-date on the show. And then what will I do? I've been mainlining for awhile now and that will have to stop. So very sad.

I'm still trying to figure out why in the NCIS fandom so many of the writers are obsessed with using the word "lover" repeatedly. Saying "Tony walked into the room" would work just as well as "Gibbs watched his lover walk into the room." It just makes me want to cry.

It also seems that NCIS fiction suffers from the same sad fate as some Supernatural fic - the inability to differentiate between lose/loose. My mind boggles at the image of Tony loosing Gibbs...is that some sort of sexual act I've never heard of?

**

I feel so unproductive on the fannish side lately. I'm hoping to get back into it soon, but real life and certain goals I've made for myself in regards to my real life have been keeping me busy.

I did manage to start updating my website with stories I've written over the past six months (so far behind on that) to get ready for the Remix Redux challenge. I think the only stories left to add are a few Jared/Jensen stories.

In the meantime, I'm just attempting to keep up with the friends list and bookmark stories for reading when I have more time.

Such a fun life I lead.
tommygirl: (supernatural - my boys)
The archive at [livejournal.com profile] supernaturalfic has totally spoiled me for any other fandom's attempts at archives. It's so perfectly organized in a few different ways and it not only does my anal heart good - but it's so easy to find what I want. I wish I had that sort of luck in other fandoms.

Seriously, especially when you're new to a fandom, aside from recs, you're really trying to navigate a minefield...and if it can be properly organized. Well, I love the maintainers a whole lot.

Supernatural Friday Five (Week 16) - [livejournal.com profile] spn_fridayfive:

1. If you could ask Kripke one question about the show and have it answered, what would it be?

Why did Sam and Dean stop talking while Sam was at Stanford?

2. How do you think Sam and Dean's morals are defined? And what are they?

I think for Dean the ends justify the means for most things – if it’s to save lives, then he can do whatever he has to do to get the job done. It becomes a little darker when it involves his father or Sam though, which even he has pointed out…in those cases, I think morals tend to fly out the window and he would do whatever he had to without thinking for them. I also think for Dean that Sam definitely acts as his moral compass in a lot of ways – he doesn’t want Sam disappointed in him and Sam is one of the few people (only now?) that he listens to.

For Sam, he tries to be so rigidly good. In the beginning I think it was because that was a part of what he viewed as “normal.” And now I think it’s his own way of battling whatever he might become in the future. That if he lives a completely moral life, he’ll be okay.

3. During Provenance, we see that Sam is very reluctant to start any relationships, because he's afraid that the people around him will get hurt. Do you think his thoughts on this topic has changed since then? If they have, do you think they've made him even more cautious, or more relaxed?

Personally, I think he’s more scared now that anyone who gets close to him will get hurt because of what he might become. I think worse than turning evil for Sam is the idea of hurting someone he loves. So I think that probably keeps him more cautious – however, I think he really does need to get laid at some point.

4. We see in second season that while the mothers of some "chosen" kids died in a fire, others remain alive and healthy. Why do you think this is so? And how do you think the demon chooses who stays alive and who dies?

I don’t really know because we don’t know what Ava’s life was like…only what Andy’s twin’s life was like. But it seems to me that the ones who lost a mother to the fire, it was done to keep them from having that loving environment, to throw them into a bad situation…whereas, maybe with the ones who didn’t lose a mother, it was because the parent was more of a detriment alive than dead.

last question has spoilers for Playthings )

Does anyone know how I can add tags to my layout? I'm completely inept when it comes to anything layout-related, but I would love to have my tags easily available.

And now only 15 minutes left to the day! Woo-hoo!

I'm going home, watching television, reading fanfiction, and working on some Ugly Betty fic with Lara.

I love how everyone is making lists of people who can prove they are real. I find it amusing because how does proving you're real prove that you aren't buckets of crazy and in need of lots of attention?

Y'all will just have to trust that I'm real and that if this was all made up, I'd have a much more fantastical life than I currently do.

[livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs is a year old today and I have a bunch of recs to put up. I'm just moving really slow at the moment - damn headache still hasn't gone away. (And see, in the world of imaginary persons, I'd be like *immune* to things like headaches and sinus infections).

I think Steph has some to put up as well.

**

Alrighty, this is the most boring post ever. I completely forgot what I was planning to write as I succumbed to the terrible pain in my head that won't go away!. I should probably go beta the fics people have sent and Steph's ship manifesto.

And then maybe I should write something. Wouldn't that be lovely?

Ciao darlings!

I. AM. BORED.

And I'm not having any luck writing. This is why I prefer my "just go where the characters take you sort of writing." Because I know where I want to get to, but do you think Sam Winchester will let me do that? Oh no, he's being a pissy little bitch. He's enjoying my torment. I know it.

So in lieu of that, I bring you some *fun*

[livejournal.com profile] ignipes posted an interesting question on what makes you click on a recced story. I especially found it interesting as half of the duo responsible for [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs. I mean, I'm not sure I'd stop doing recs the way that I already do, but I think it's interesting to see the things that people look for in a rec. It's something to keep in the back of my mind when I do a recs update. I do have to agree with the main one of how it does depend on how much you trust the person reccing you the story. It's all about finding a reccer that constantly provides you with links to stories that you both share a mutual enjoyment of. I try to avoid phrases like "best story ever" and "we like good stuff" because that's quite subjective.

It's funny that this discussion began today when I've been pondering the whole "what makes a story a worthwhile" rec thing. Because I read a lot of fanfiction, but I only rec a small amount of it. And it's not that the majority of the fanfiction I read isn't good (because I have no qualms about x'ing out of the really bad fic), but that it just wasn't really memorable when I'm putting my lists together. And I think, for me, that's really the biggest piece of criteria (I've gone on about what I look for in fic I'm reading many times before and will spare you all) that I have - the story is memorable. Whether it's from a really original plot, a style of writing that is brilliant, some really great banter that sticks with me...that separates it from me thinking "good story, what's next" and me reccing it.

**

Quick pimpage before I go:

Hey Supernatural fandom artists? Have you checked out [livejournal.com profile] spn_color? Submissions are due by December 22nd

I don't know if I should be flattered or what, but I seem to have attracted my first troll over at [livejournal.com profile] quillandink. This person has taken to going back to the very first posts ever and making comments on each post. I love people who have so much time on their hands.

Rather than getting into anything, I simply delete and ban.

Fun times.

I honestly don't get people some times. If being rude on the internet is how you get your jollies and feel good about yourself, something is lacking in your life.

Happy Supernatural Day, darlings! Here's to a Sam and Dean episode that is chock full of wonderful things, lots of angst and banter, and shirtless boys! (A girl can dream!)

I need to finish my story for the supernatural photo fanfiction challenge. Right now it's lingering at a page. I know what i want to happen, but Sam and Dean are not being cooperative. It's like they know I have a deadline and are toying with my emotions.

Anyone going to be up for a quick beta later today? It's sam/dean so I don't want to make [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 kill herself.

Alrighty, off to catch up on friends list and finish my story, maybe even work on Nano.

tommygirl: (blade trinity - king)
Okay, really people, I need to stop having freaking fandom ideas. Because then I undertake them and nothing on my to do list gets done. It's a very sad thing.

Or not really because I'm really interested to see how this would play out if it takes off.

Basically, I created a community called [livejournal.com profile] thefandomnine, which is loosely based off the ABC tv show, The Nine. You pick nine-twelve different characters (From as many fandoms as you want) and put them into a life-or-death situation and see how it plays out.

This came about because I kept having these ideas as I watched the show of how Dean Winchester would handle such a thing. Because he's Dean and mostly a loner and he's used to saving people from monsters...but how does he handle being unable to do anything against a HUMAN bad guy and how does the bond he forms with the other eight change him?

So then I was thinking...wouldn't it be interesting to throw him in a room with eight other different fandom characters and watch it all play out.

So that's what I've done. Even if you don't watch the show, you can partake because it's not really anything to do with the actual show aside from it's basic premise.

So it's an ongoing community for everyone to go play with - [livejournal.com profile] thefandomnine. Join and pimp, my friends. I will love you forever.

**

And to give a little pimpage:

-The Het Fic Holiday Exchange is Multifandom, can include original characters, and is taking sign-ups until October 31st

-Veronica Mars Santa - sign-ups start on November 1st

**

Not much else to report. Slowly getting caught up on television. I am enjoying Gilmore Girls a whole lot this season. Maybe it's because I've always loved Lorelai/Chris and Luke/Lorelai were pissing me off by the end of last season. And Rory isn't annoying me anymore. She can live.

I really enjoy Friday Night Lights too, which is weird for me since I neither like football or enjoyed the movie.

And I haven't seen Veronica Mars yet as my sister makes me wait to watch it with her and she was out until past my bedtime last night.

And only two more days until new Supernatural.

Dear Eric Kripke:

I think it's time that the boys mourn properly, wearing nothing but towels.

Love,

Tommygirl

Okay off to do some reading and such. I have a ton of recs to put together for [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs at some point. I should probably get on that.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (charmed - chris - guide)
So last night something similar to May happened to me, where all of a sudden I lost my voice and was extremely congested. Last time this happened, I had bronchitis. I go to the doctor in an hour to find out if that's the case again.

Also last night, for some freaking reason, my dvr decided the best time to act up was during Supernatural, so I missed the first part of it.

But I'm good. Wanna know why?

1) [livejournal.com profile] spnremixfics are open and someone wrote the perfect remix of my story "Normal People" called Overrated. It's gen fic set after Nightmare and it's brilliance. Such good stuff. Definitely recommend you guys read it and all the other stories over there.

2) The person I wrote for seems to like the remix that I did of his/her story. I was definitely worried about that.

3) Some kind anonymous person gave me six months of paid livejournal time. Thank you so much. If you want a ficlet or a five things meme, just leave me a comment - you can comment anonymously if you want to maintain the secrecy. If not, I will just pay it forward and boo someone over the weekend! Which if you haven't checked it out, boo someone!

**

So, because I'm an obsessed fangirl, I still watched SPN from where I could. Such good stuff. A more thorough review will come when I download the whole episode and enjoy it. Probably several times. I just want to do bad things with Dean and squish Sam's face. Okay, unless Sam is in a towel. Then I want to do bad things with him too.

**

Alrighty, I've got some work to finish before my doctor's appointment. And then I might collapse.

Ciao!

If you're not participating in [livejournal.com profile] summercon yet, you're really missing out. Lots of fun activities, from comment prompts/fic, to clips from all our favorite shows (you have to become a member of the online con for this lovely benefit, but come on, it's fun stuff), and a "blame someone else" fic challenge. Fun times. Multifandom. A little something, something for everyone.

For the first challenge, I wrote two comment ficlets:

Anyone Up for Strip Poker - Lost, Jack/Sawyer

A Humiliating Defeat - Alias, Syd/Weiss

And dude, there are so many great ficlets by people, even if you don't want to take a prompt for yourself, go read. For reals.

Watched the premiere of Jericho last night. It's a bit odd, but I'll give it more of a chance since Steven Chbosky is responsible for it. And he wrote one of my favorite books of all time, Perks of Being a Wallflower. not to mention, I've watched stuff for lesser reasons.

One week until new Supernatural. On the one hand, I want the week to go really fast so that new SPN is here. But on the other hand, the premiere of SPN is the night before the new roommate moves in and I have a ton of crap to do at the house (alas, the new "roommate" is my mother, but it's quite a long story and really, don't ever live with friends who fuck you over and break leases). So on that hand, I need this week to last a bit longer.

Why was there no new project runway? That was mean of them.

**

Have I mentioned how much the new John Mayer album rocks? God, I love that boy. His hair is out of control at the moment, but he's just...I love watching him play the guitar.

Alrighty, off to continue to play at [livejournal.com profile] summercon and to read the friends list and many other things.

Ciao amigos!

Dear Aaron Sorkin,

I love you. I love that you tend to work with the same actors and people over and over because they are the awesome. I love the potential this show has and the ease with which you always bring the banter.

Really, the only thing missing is having Josh Charles as one of the writers for the show within the show. Really. That'd put you over-the-top in the awesome category.

Love,

Tommygirl

Not much going on in my neck of the woods. Have been trying to finish up the story 'o doom while fighting off a really bad case of disinterest in the world. I get in these moods where I'm so apathetic, it's sick, and I accomplish nothing for days at a time. So not good.

I'm ready for my fall shows to start. I'm tivo'ing a bunch of random pilots to give them chances and trying to figure out if I will stick with Vanished once other shows start. I mean, I love Gale Harold, but the FBI agency in this show is so stupid that they make NTAC (from 4400) look like brilliance. So I have to question my own shallowness: Is Gale Harold hot enough to make me watch every single week?

Really, just bring back Sam and Dean already. Okay, maybe Clark and Lex too. And we'll keep Matt and Danny on Studio 60 too.

**

It's pimpage time!

Supernatural Halloween Challenge has the prompts open for claiming! There are a ton of good ones to pick from!

Supernatural Fluffathon is taking prompts until September 23rd. I know we all love the angst, but every once and awhile Sam and Dean deserve some happiness.

Summercon - [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn is at it again with her brilliance, running an online multifandom convention for everyone. The posted link will take you to the first activity, prompts to write based on. Tons of prompts in all fandoms with stories right there in the comments. I wrote a little Lost, Jack/Sawyer playing poker. So go read and participate!

The Multifandom Porn Battle has the prompts listed for writing. It's running until midnight on September 24th, so go write that comment porn!

[livejournal.com profile] moviefanfiction is the hopefully go-to place for all movie fanfiction. I'm hoping for it to become an easy-to-navigate archive of fanfiction for movies...since I find it so damn hard to find fanfiction for movies all the time. So yeah, if you've got fic, feel free to post it...or check out the great stuff that's been posted thus far.

More to come on Not Quite Winchestercon later. [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy and I are attempting to chat tonight to go over some main ideas and then I'll contact those that offered up their wonderful help. Because I am not full of many wonderful ideas on my own. I'm much better at pimping other's wonderful ideas. Hee.

Also, I ran it past Steph (because we are totally co-dependent when it comes to anything fandom), and she likes my Halloween idea for you guys. I don't have the stuff I need to explain it with me here at the office, so maybe tonight I'll post it. Or maybe I'll wait a little bit longer. We'll see. Mwahahahaha...no really, it's fun stuff.

Okay, on that note, I'm going to away for a bit.

Ciao.

You post a topic, list, category, whatever, in my comments section. (examples: "Five songs Dan wishes never existed" or "Five things Ray puts up with because he loves Fraser"). Then, in a separate post, I'll post the answers to your Top 5 ideas, according to me. Serious or fun!

Fandoms: SGA, Supernatural, Sports Night, Joss-verse, Veronica Mars, Alias, Charmed, Joan of Arcadia, Wonderfalls, Entourage...pretty much anything in my user info is fair game.

**I feel I will repost it while I work on the remaining ones in case someone else wants to participate. Really, it's just an hour and a half left of work and I'm *bored* out of my skull.

There will be an online Supernatural Con the weekend of [livejournal.com profile] winchestercon for all us poor souls that could not go to the live one. [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 has given her blessing and it will be called "The Not Quite Winchestercon".

Since this is me and Steph running this, I'll be looking for a few people to help out with ideas and moderating the community once it's set up. if you'd be interested in helping out, just comment or drop me an email at tommygirl828 (at) gmail (dot) com.

My co-worker, Mike, keeps playing "Waterloo" by Abba over and over and over again. I think I'm going to kill him soon.

Ciao.

Our annual Member Appreciation Breakfast is next Wednesday for our office and I'm in crazed mode trying to make sure it all comes together like it's supposed to. All part of the fun of my job. Fortunately the place where we have it always does a phenomenal job of helping me make sure things are as they should be.

But I will definitely be happy once it's over.

Then I can breathe again and remember what it's like not to be insanely busy.

Still haven't gotten my damn Supernatural dvds (really, this is why I don't usually order things like this online because I want them right now), but as my sister points out, I shouldn't be too upset as I don't have time to watch right now. And yeah, so I probably can't really do much with them until tomorrow night, but I just want the opportunity to blow off studying or work or friends in favor of Jared or Jensen. Is that asking too much?

Instead, I watched my recorded copy of Vanished and it seems that the FBI agents on this show are as dumb as NTAC on 4400. So lucky that Gale Harold is sex on a stick. Like the hottest man to ever walk the planet, or I might stop watching. Because it's so dumb and really, how can a reporter discover more information with Google than they can?

Random Question: Why is most of the fanfiction in the Brokeback Mountain fandom about a bazillion chapters long? I don't normally do WIPs, but it's like impossible to find anything shorter or complete. Most of the WIPS are at something like 29 out of ?? How do you make it to chapter 29 and not have any idea how much is left?

Some pimpage:

-It's not to late to make a claim for this round over at [livejournal.com profile] rec_50! And there's a new table of prompts to choose from so it's not same 'ole, same 'ole.

-Go read the great Ocean's Eleven/Ocean's Twelve fic that was produced for the second challenge at [livejournal.com profile] takethehouse. Danny, Rusty, Linus...oh fun.

-First challenge is up over at [livejournal.com profile] melodicmuse. Check it out and see if it inspires you to write fic.

-Spook Me Multifandom Halloween Ficathon - multifandom, sign-ups until September 12th

-Supernatural Halloween Challenge - taking prompts until September 18th, claims begin on September 19th

-Supernatural Holiday Exchange - Yeah, I try to pretend it's not that time of year, but it's almost upon us. And [livejournal.com profile] estrella30 said that I had to do it, so you guys have to as well. Sign-ups begin on October 1st and run until October 22nd.

-Multifandom Het Porn Challenge has the list of prompts up for grabbing with stories due September 30th

-Fic You Totally Want to Read But Are Embarrassed By looks like a whole lotta fun. Anonymous commenting is allowed and maybe you can write some fic snippets for people (or get some written for you).

Okay, back to crazy busy working and such.

Ciao my friends!
tommygirl: (supernatural - dean (dude))
Last night while chatting with Steph ([livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy), we came up with many brilliant fandom ideas. She and I do this a lot. Think up wonderful ideas for ourselves involving fandoms we love...and then we put it off and put it off. We're very gifted that way. Amazing ideas, very little follow through (we've been writing a "Lance story that's really not about Lance" joint story for going on two years now and we're only at about 30 pages).

First, we decided (okay, I decided) that we should co-write our own Supernatural fanfiction 'verse - I'd bring the gen and she'd bring the incest. It would be the movieverse, years of Sam and Dean watching movies together.

Second, we decided (okay, she decided) that for the year anniversary of [livejournal.com profile] polyfandomrecs that we would do some fun things - but that's all I'll say as I don't want to spoil surprises and have Steph come after me with a spoon.

Third, we decided (and really, this time we both did decide) that there should be an online gathering for us unlucky bastards who can't get to Winchestercon this year. I really wanted to go, but alas, real life issues took over. So Steph and I were thinking of forming a community for that weekend with various activities where we could all hang out and do our own SPN stuff. We haven't figured out all the details (or any really) for how that would work yet, but we really want to do something. So if you're interested, let us know.

The remainder of our conversations was mostly made up of me complaining about the Devil's Trap project of doom. The thing tricked me. I thought I was done. But nope. I'm missing two scenes. DAMMIT. But it will be finished and up for everyone's enjoyment (hopefully) by happy DVD day!

All these things you guys have to look forward to. Uh-huh.

Speaking of the SPN dvds, I got an email from Best Buy this morning that said my set was shipping out this morning and had a tracking number. ::gets excited:: I can't wait to have that boxset in my hands. Oh, the love I have for this show is so not rational.

**

I'll finish up the top five lists this weekend, so if you still want to request one, go ahead. I've also got some ficathon pieces to work on because I looked at the calendar and realized it was the first of September today. Where this month went, I do not know.

And that's really all I've got for now.

Ciao my darlings!
tommygirl: (farscape - crichton)
Okay, the Devil's Trap thing is still KICKING MY ASS. I'm up to 21 freaking pages and it's still nowhere near done. Oh, how do I get myself into these things?

Due to this reason, I went through and picked one choice for the "top five" meme for each person at the moment. I'll go back and do the rest once I beat this beast of a story into submission and make it cry like a little girl.

So yeah...

For phoebesmum - Sports Night - five impossible things Dan Rydell believed before breakfast? )

For deirdre_c - Supernatural - Five times Dean disobeyed John )

For chickpea - Wonderfalls - Five times Jaye almost seriously told Eric about the talking animals. )

For aliaspiral - Joan of Arcadia - Five times Adam met God without knowing him. )

For iamtheenemy - Alias - Five people Sark didn't kill, even though he could have. )

**

Okay, I will finish this story today and then watch my betas' heads explode when they try to make heads or tails of this thing.

Ciao, my friends.
