Tonight is the Justin Timberlake concert. Not my first one, doubtful it will be my last. I love my Nsync boys. No matter how much time passes, they still own my heart at times, even if they are now battling with Jared & Jensen for control.

Burn Notice continues to be made of awesome. It's smart and funny and I love the characters. I really love Michael and his relationships with the people he loves. They drive him crazy, but he would never let anything happen to them because they matter. It's so perfectly true to real relationships...we all have one (or a few) people who you love and would do anything for, but they can drive you bugger rather quickly.

Lunch on Sunday with some friends where we discussed the seventh Harry Potter book. Good times. We all enjoyed it...though my friend brought up some interesting questions of small details that I already couldn't recall. I think I need to go back and read the book a bit slower this time, so I can fully take in the details and the world.

Spoilers for the book...don't read on if you don't want to know about the book... )

Pandora.com has a thing for Hootie & the Blowfish. Or else it thinks *I* do. I have a Jason Mraz station and no matter how many times I click "don't like" for a Hootie song, another one comes up. It's awful. Make the bad Hootie stop.

Okay, so I worked until nearly seven pm last night, distracted with wonderful pics of Jared and Jensen sent to my work email by [livejournal.com profile] larah33. The good news is that I'm nearly done with this huge ass project that I have and I get off tomorrow since I worked a full day on Saturday.

Alas, I had to avoid the internet because I couldn't start Book Seven until late last night.

But I am done now...

LOTS OF SPOILERS! Don't Read if you don't want to know! )

And now the epilogue spoilers... )

**

Alrighty, now I will attempt to catch up on the friends list as much as possible. I'm days behind from real life insanity and then self-inflicted exile to avoid HP Spoilers, so this should be fun.

Stupid livejournal is giving me a headache. It won't load and I'm in no mood for battling with it. So over here I come to play. So who out there has the paid account? Is it worth the money? I really do think I want it because I'm a girl who hates ads, but I don't know...

New Harry Potter book in only a few days. I wasn't sure this day would ever get here. Alas, plans have changed and I won't be getting my book until Saturday morning on my way to work. But then I have off Sunday/Monday...

I'm just thinking I might need to avoid the internet until I've finished reading it. I would hate to have the very last book spoiled by an idiot.

My friend and I have begun making our plans for Harry Potter night on Friday. Originally, I was going to bail on the midnight release thing this year and just get the book in the morning. Mostly because I end up staying up most of Friday night reading the book...and I kind of want to savor this one because it's the last. But yeah, who was I kidding? So we are doing our midnight release thing, though without my sister this year who has to work early morning on Saturday.

I signed up for [livejournal.com profile] spn_remix again because last year was a lot of fun (and I totally wrote my first Sam/Dean for that challenge) and I always enjoy the challenge of a remix. At times I get frustrated and worry that I'm ruining a great story, but I usually like what I end up writing. Here's to hoping that trend continues.

I'm being good though, despite signing up for that challenge. I am actually working on curbing my fic challenge addiction and I'm slowly making some progress. I give so much credit to y'all who are productive and constantly creating wonderful fic. I'm just busy with real life or lazy or staring at shiny objects.

I found this article amusing!

The Hand That Controls the Sock Puppet Could Get Slapped - Mr. Mackey used the online handle “Rahodeb” (an anagram of his wife’s name, Deborah). In one Internet posting sure to enter the annals of chief-executive vanity, Mr. Mackey wrote as Rahodeb, “I like Mackey’s haircut. I think he looks cute!”

With all a chief executive has to do, the 14-hour days spent barking orders, digesting reports, motivating employees and courting Wall Street, why would they spend their time sparring with anonymous critics online? And what makes them think they won’t be revealed?

Some of our sockpuppets are just thinking too small. We should be using them to change the world and make a profit and possibly talk about how hot we are through our *other* personalities. I know my sockpuppet name is very clever - iamtommygirl - and no one would ever figure it out.

Okay, I should probably do some work since I was out last Friday for Harry Potter fun at the movies.
tommygirl: (brothers & sisters - tommy & justin)
This was a completely lazy weekend on my part. Friday I saw the new Harry Potter movie. Yesterday, my sinuses were terrible so I pretty much slept most of my day away. When I was awake, I read a bit or watched the Lifetime Movie Channel's Christmas in July moviethon. Today, I was a little more productive at least. I did some laundry, straightened up my room, baked cupcakes, and updated my website with all the stories I've written since March. It wasn't a whole lot, but I still hate coding like whoa.

I also worked on some girl!Eric/Vince Entourage fic. I usually write stories in order, but this one...I just had this idea that would have to be set closer to the end of the story and decided to write it down before I forgot it. It's not too bad for a first draft. Also added another 500 words to Winchester Meets Halliwell. It's truly the neverending story. I think too big, my friends. I must stop that.

**

I finally watched the first two episodes of Burn Notice and I love it. It's funny and smart. And I was hooked when the little boy was crying and Michael was like, "Are you crying? Please don't cry." Why do I love the emotionally retarded guys all the time? What does that say about me?

I still have this past Thursday's episode to watch and I'm very excited. And seriously, why do I think Dean Winchester would fit so well into the spy world? It's a sickness, people. I always insert Dean Winchester into *everything* - it's way past obsession.

Tonight there is new Entourage, Flight of the Conchords, and 4400, but I'm probably going to try to watch Psych and Eureka as I'm a tad bit behind on my television. And it doesn't help that the GH spin-off, NIght Shift features Patrick/Robin pretty predominantly, which means I had to watch it. I love Patrick/Robin and they're one of the only reasons I still watch GH these days.

A few recs:

-[livejournal.com profile] vinlyroad has finished her Supernatural Sam/Jess/Dean story and it's awesome. The latest part is called The Odd Number. I suggest you read the other two stories in the series as well. I love her Jess and the dynamic she creates with the three of them. And really, I just love her style of writing. (And sure, I'm biased as her friend/beta, but it's good stuff yo!)

-[livejournal.com profile] shay_renoylds finished up Eating Gifted Children, the story I requested from her for Sweet Charity. It's a Heroes/Supernatural crossover featuring two of my favorite sets of brothers. It's a wonderful, fun read. I love it.

-[livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy wrote some awesome Panic! fic, Counting Down the Days ‘Til You’re Walking Through My Door. It's Brendon/Ryan and it's hot and funny and Steph needs to write more often. ::prods her::

Alrighty, I am going to try to catch up on friends list tonight and maybe do a bit more writing. Though chances are I'll read the friends list and then get distracted by my re-reading of Harry Potter for book seven.

Speaking of book seven, i do not want to be spoiled! Please cut anything that is spoilerish when you post it. And keep anything spoilery away from my journal. I would greatly appreciate that. I found out about book five's big spoiler because I was weak and it ruined the experience of reading it to an extent, just dreading what was coming...so yeah, I learned my lesson, so please help me out.

So I stumbled on this article about Nabokov's son trying to decide whether to fulfill this wishes of his father in his will regarding his unfinished manuscript.

And while in a way, I understand why literary scholars wouldn't want it destroyed, as a writer (nowhere near on those levels, admittedly) it upsets me that the author's wishes have been ignored for so long. They're called "unfinished manuscripts" for a reason - it's not up to par with the writing of a final draft. And I can't speak for other writers out there, but there are are only a select few that see my drafts of stories/screenplays before they're in the final draft stage.

And if the man's wishes were to have it destroyed, accept it and do as he asked. It was his work, and it was apparently something he didn't want shared the way it was.

So I wonder - am I thinking too much like a writer, focusing too much on how I would feel in the same situation? What about others out there? What do you think about something like this?

**

I think it's time for a reread of book six of Harry Potter. I read it twice when it first came out, but it's been awhile. Though I must decide if I want to start with book one, like I usually do, or just read book six. The thing is, I'm still not a huge fan of book five, but I wouldn't want to just skip over it if I'm reading the whole series again.

Oh decisions!

**

I started to work on my SESA story last night, only to realize...it's been so long since I written for my boys - do I remember how? No wonder I haven't finished Trouble In My Head, since I can't seem to get a grasp on Justin's voice anymore. Ack! It's a good thing I started this one early, I guess. This way I can get the crap out of the way now and hopefully produce something wonderful for my recipient.

[livejournal.com profile] yuletide is going a bit easier at the moment - am enjoying my *research* for the story. However, I worry when a story comes too easily - sometimes that means it's not that good. (although once in a blue moon a story does write itself for me - I'm hoping that's the case here).

Okay, off to read the friends list and see if I can accomplish something with my day.

Ciao.

I saw this harry potter meme. It made me giggle a whole lot so I'm posting the results.

So if you're not reading Underwater Light by [livejournal.com profile] mistful, what are you waiting for? This chapter was so good. Harry is just so dense and Draco is just so...so.

Not really a spoiler, but a few lines, so just to be on the safe side - my favorite little bit )

Okay, now I have to decide if I'm going to write or watch a movie? I rented a whole bunch of my favorite cheesy Josh Charles movies from netflix, including my fave, Crossworlds.
tommygirl: (smirky draco by trickster_)
Read the latest chapter of Underwater Light by Maya. All I will say is that it's quite evil to end a chapter like that. Evil. Loved it though. I really love her Draco. He makes me happy because he maintains that bratty/sometimes mean demeanor while all the while being much more wellrounded than Rowling has accounted for. And it's no real secret that Draco is my crush. I love the blond pretty boys who are quasi-evil. Good chapter, freaky chapter, everyone read chapter.

But it did get me to thinking (a dangerous thing) how there are certain characters that I adore so much more in fandom than in canon such as Draco. His purpose in the canon seems to be an annoyance, a one-dimensional pain in the ass for harry potter who spouts out slurs and such. And that makes me sad because in the beginning, I could tell myself, "He can be redeemed. He's 11--no one stays this bratty." But I don't know how he can come back after OOTP. Then again, look at the glimpses we got of Sirius and James--they weren't exactly nice when they were fifteen.

It's so...all over the place.

So the confusion of Draco's outcome saddens me--and that's why I turn to fanon. Because there, when he's written right, he has all these other characteristics aside from being mean. He's complex, he's got a heart (that is often well hidden, of course), and he is capable of being more than that sniveling little twit that we so often see in the canon. And that's what I love about Draco. I love the unfulfilled potential. I mean, with Harry, you know what he'll become. He was born into it and has grown into it very well. He knows what his role is as does everyone else. He's going to battle Voldemort.

Anyway...

read the new chapter. It's fabulousness.

Working on getting the new domain (http://www.strawtogold.net) up and running as well as finishing ficathon pieces and some unfinished chapters of stuff.

Took a break to see Spiderman 2 last night. It should be called Spiderman 2: The Mush because there was so much mushy/romantic parts to this one with lots of crying from so many different characters. Still a great movie though. Still loved it. And most definitely loved my hot boys! (I didn't know it was possible for James Franco to look hotter--but he did!)

Saw the preview for the next Blade movie with Ryan Reynolds. Ryan Reynolds in leather! YUM. I really enjoy these movies--they're the good type of campy vampire movie that makes me happy.

Off to write some and do some actual work as well. Much to do before the weekend.
