I'm just about ready to give up on ficathons in general. There would still be a few that I would do, but it seems that most people who sign up flake out in the end. And it drives me crazy.

If you sign up to write a story for someone else, you do it. Sure, real life happens and things come up, but not quite so often as some make it seem. If you're insanely busy in your real life, maybe now is not the time to sign up for a ficathon, where someone else is waiting/hoping/wanting to read a story of their own.

It also seems that there are a lot of people who don't even comment on the stories that they receive and that just reeks of bad manners. If someone writes a story for you, whether it's your cup of tea or not, at the very least you should say "Thank you." It takes like two seconds of your time and it makes the writer feel a whole lot better than never hearing a word from the person they wrote for.

And I guess I'm just bitter because it seems that I'm always getting shafted in these things. I end up never getting my story and/or getting assigned to the person who doesn't believe in saying "thank you." It's quite disheartening.

So that leaves me with two options:

1) Start a multifandom community for moderators/organizers of ficathons where they can post a list of people who flaked on their challenge without a good reason (we all know the difference between real emergency and lame excuse when you had two months to write 1000 words). Then organizers can use it to decide if they want to let this person sign up for their ficathon, knowing that this person has flaked in the past.

HOwever, that's a whole lot of work for someone like me. So i think I'll go with option 2.

2) No more ficathons aside from a select few like Yuletide and Remix. I'll do prompt challenges and such, but nothing where I'm writing for one person who never says "thank you" (pissing me off) and/or where I never get the story I requested (which saddens me).

And now I'm done being contrary. Sorry for that, but argh, it annoys me so much, especially the recipient not saying "thank you." It's just WRONG, people.

How much do I love Entourage? It is the most awesome of awesome things on television at the moment. God, I love those boys. I loved this past episode and the homage to Almost Famous cracked me up. I love every character, even when they do really shitty things, and just...gah.

Can anyone point me to some good icons? I only have the one of Ari and I'd like some more. Also, there needs to be more fic in this fandom. the stories that exist are freaking great, but I want more, dammit. I'm a greedy girl like that.

**

My co-worker is trying to teach me the ins and outs of my space. So not my cup of tea. The only reason I have an account is because it's the only way to keep up with some of my real life friends...so May is trying to teach me how to post and comment and such. I just want to stick with my happy livejournal world.

Alrighty, off to do some more drabbles, my Brothers Halliwell story, and and some actual work before this day is over.

Ciao!

oh fandom

I come back from the move-imposed internet exile and the Supernatural fandom has exploded because one of those ever-so-lovely hate memes has invaded our fandom. Argh.

Wow. I haven't read any of the posts at this one, but I'm guessing it's pretty similar to all the other ones that exist out there. Like I've said before in regards to other fandoms and anyone ever who has anonymously FLAMED someone. You need to get out more and develop a life. Because if you're compelled to rip someone apart in an anonymous hate meme? There is something wrong with you.

I'm not saying you have to like everyone you come into contact with in fandom, but jesus, would you behave this way in public? I doubt it. You'd ignore the person in question, go about your life, and write about their evil ways in your emo journal. You wouldn't gather a group of people around a megaphone and shout out, "I hate blah, blah, blah today..."

(Really, this should only be done if one is speaking out about how EVIL President Bush is, but I digress...)

It's just not cool to bash people in a public forum, let alone one where they CAN'T come back at you. It's not amusing. It's not your sworn fandom duty to put those evil BNFs in their places. It's not "oh thank god, finally a hate meme." It's just fucking stupid.

And I guess I'm a really big loser because I don't really have the time or inclination to hate anyone on livejournal...and if I did, I probably would just NOT have anything to do with them.

To Supernatural fandom in general: I love y'all. You guys provide me with hot photographs, great stories, and lots of squee and discussion.

To my friends list: ::huggles:: If you were mentioned, I'll kick someone's ass because y'all rock my socks and the cashbah and the...the...MOON. Yeah, the whole fucking moon.

To SPN HATE: What's the point of making a place like that? If it was supposed to be to deal with normal venting rather than encouraging others to rip certain people apart, well, you'd force people to post with THEIR usernames.

Must go finish writing and then get some sleep. Okay, maybe not sleep because I got season two of Entourage on dvd today and it needs watching before Sunday. Ahh, my asshole boys of Entourage make me happy, not as happy as Sam and Dean, but happy all the same.

I'm gonna try to catch up on the friends list tomorrow.

Viva la internet.

Love you guys!

Ciao.

Things one doesn't need to discover after a day of cleaning up her old apartment and getting the last of her junk out of said third-story WALK-UP...

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore and [livejournal.com profile] stone_princess I've been made aware that a few of my Jared/Jensen stories have been plagerized along with several other authors. And on one of my stories, he actually has my "feedback always appreciated" still up as well, but never tries to point the readers to the actual author of the story.

Argh.

I hate this crap. It happened to me long ago in the Nsync fandom (why is it always the real person fandoms I have trouble with? Hhmmm...) and seriously, it makes me hate on fandom. And I know logically that most of fandom is cool (as my friends list is proof of), but argh! PISSED!

He stole it word for word, people. Word for freaking word. (Not just mine either, there was [livejournal.com profile] estrella30's stuff and [livejournal.com profile] stone_princess and so many more!

For myself, the entries in question:

http://jareddean69.livejournal.com/3794.html - The Charity Event
http://community.livejournal.com/the_winchesters/3450.html - The Hollywood Party

My original postings:

http://storydivagirl.livejournal.com/142074.html - The Charity Event
http://storydivagirl.livejournal.com/138621.html - The Hollywood Party

Wow. If I weren't quite so tired and sore, I'd be much more pissed off. At least credit the author.

**

I must thank [livejournal.com profile] stone_princess and [livejournal.com profile] scribblinlenore for the head's up! You guys rock for keeping other authors aware of this stuff!

Now I'm off to wait for LJ Abuse to do something about this and maybe sleep.

Love you all!

Tonight I see Serenity! Woo-hoo! I can't wait! I'm trying to make this day at work go as fast as possible, but I appear to be failing miserably. I just want it to be 10pm already!

I think there should be some sort of multifandom alert system where those who constantly pull out of ficathons have their names listed. Because I see a few people signing up for ficathons that I'm participating in and I dread the idea of them getting me - because I've witnessed in other challenges how they just never did their story or moderators can't reach them any longer.

I realize that real life occasionally happens and the once-in-a-blue-moon need to pull out of a ficathon at the last minute might occur. But some of these people seem to constantly do it - and they end up with stories while their recipients have to wait.

It annoys me. But i'm far to lazy to take on a challenge like making a community for something of that nature.

Basically: before you sign up for a ficathon, make sure you can actually do the story by the deadline. Not after. Not never. On the due date. We all know what we can handle and not handle. There are ficathons I would love to participate in, but I just don't have the time - so I don't partake. It's not that bloody hard.

{/end rant}

Tuesday and Wednesday were not as productive on A New Journey as the prior couple of days, but I did finish up chapter nine and got about 1000 words of chapter ten done. Overall, I have a nice word count since Sunday - now I just have to keep it up. I will finish this story soon. I will finish this story soon. I'd love to really focus on it this weekend and maybe get the rest done (if Michael and Maria cooperate) because I have ficathon deadlines approaching in July and I'd like to concentrate on them without any guilt. Plus, I think all the readers would like it if I updated Trouble In My Head before the next millenia.

So wish me luck. Keep sending me good writing vibes.

**

And have I mentioned I'm seeing Serenity today? Gah! I'm so excited. I love Firefly beyond what would be considered normal. oh Mal...and Jayne...and Kaylee...and River...and Simon...

**

[livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 tagged me for the OTP meme, but that will have to wait until tomorrow evening when I have time to find pictures of my OTPs. But I'll do it. I promise.

And on that note, I shall bid you all adieu. I have some actual work to do and then some writing to accomplish.

Have a great day!

Ciao.

You know what peeves me a great deal regarding ficathons? Aside from the obvious of people just never completing their story or contacting the administrator regarding the situation?

People who don't even say "thank you" when you write them a story. I noticed someone else on my friend's list mention this and it reminded me that I wanted to rant about this a few days ago. Because really? How hard is it to either comment or send an email that says "Thanks!" Even if you didn't like it or it wasn't quite what you hoped for, someone tried to create something for you. I'd hope that if someone handed you a gift you wouldn't look at it and not thank the person, so what makes it okay to do with a ficathon or challenge?

Grrr...it just annoys me beyond anything. Because authors are all slightly neurotic and constantly worrying that people like their stories, especially when written for someone...so not to hear anything? It's rude.

meanwhile the interview meme continues to circulate...

Five questions from lunarknightz... )

So how much does [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 rock? She wrote another story that falls into the New Future A/U that we've created. It was my reward fic for making two of my goals for the April Fool's Challenge and it's just...truth & consequences picks up where I left off with "Lonely No More" and brings a few favorites back into the mix. Go read it here!

**

Speaking of Reward Fic, I'm going to attempt a Princess Bride ficlet. I love and adore the movie so I guess any excuse to pull it out and watch it is a good thing, but I never written that before. Hhmm...hope I don't screw it up too much.

Also have much other writing to be doing instead of all the stuff I have been undertaking: watching stuff on my TIVO, cleaning up a bit, updating my website, etc. I think I've run out of excuses and my sister has taken over the living room to play her new Splinter Cell game so...writing it is.

Have a good weekend everyone! Be on the lookout for more of the icon ficlets and a few other things if I stop procrastinating.

Ciao.

So much to do, so much to do...and yet, here I am, updating my livejournal. though that is most likely the most important thing I'll undertake today.

So some dipshit had his/her way with the [livejournal.com profile] yuletide site so I can't upload my story yet. Just why? I don't understand the appeal of doing stuff like that. It's along the same lines as all the fandom wank, hate posts that occur. Why? What does it accomplish except to make you look like the ass? I mean, someone could be spot on about his/her take on a fandom writer, but by posting things in that means...I'm sorry, but I grew up being told, "You have a problem with someone, you deal with it directly" and "If you've got nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all."

I understand we all get frustrated and annoyed with people and the like, but there are better places to vent, better places where you're not hurting people's feelings.

Oh, the Internet makes some people so damn brave in their anonymity, doesn't it?

Some fun memes that I haven't had a chance to do until now:

The television meme )

My stories for the year in review meme )

**

In other news, I still have everyone's wish list items that I think I can saved. You might not get it until after the holiday is officially over (as during the holiday vacation is most likely the first chance I'll have to grant those wishes), but there coming! I love the idea of it and want to do it for people.

I also have a bunch of recs to put up here in different fandoms, but I want to wait until I have a few moments to sort through them properly.

In the meantime, the next few days will be filled with some beta work for people, my Charmed Santa project, and my story for the most wubulous cyber daughter ever, [livejournal.com profile] iamtheenemy.

Wish me luck! I've got four days!

Ciao.
