tommygirl: (muppets - old guys)
I hope everyone who celebrates had a happy holiday! We are currently in the midst of a snow storm here and I'm on vacation from work and trying to take it easy.

Between the holidays and trying to ingest as much fun with [community profile] yuletide as possible, I've been slower on getting caught up on things the way I had hoped to. I loved my story for Yuletide this year. It was Boondock Saints, with an injured-but-stubborn-Murphy and a frustrated-but-overprotective Connor. Just like I asked for and so perfectly in tune with both the boys. It'll definitely be at the top of my recs for [community profile] polyfandomrecs, but in the meantime, Halves .

My recipients seemed to like their stories, which is also very awesome.

And of course, the number of amazing stories and the level of creativity continues to just blow me away.

Now it's time to focus on [community profile] fandom_stocking. If you've signed up and have a quick link to your stocking posting, please leave it here. I plan to go through as many as I possibly can and write something between this evening and January 6th, but I definitely want to get to my friends. I love you guys and don't always get to show it and this is something small I can for you guys.

There are currently six cats under my roof this evening. One of my sorority sisters joked that I was turning into crazy cat lady. Unfortunately, my neighbor's daughter's house had a bad fire last night. She went back in for her cats and took in a lot of smoke. So her daughter is currently at Temple hospital and everyone in their family is either helping our neighbor (who is older, on an oxygen tank and currently suffering with a broken rib) or allergic to cats. And they know how I am with cats and rescuing them...so we're taking care of her two cats until she's released from the hospital. They are very sweet cats, who are a little freaked out (understandable) and my neighbor has done so much for me and my sister since my mother died, so I am currently the home with six cats. Kinda seven if you include the cat outdoors that we take care of (Sidle, we call her, she's Katniss' mom). I think my sorority sister is correct.

I finally saw Social Network Really good movie, even if it made me angry at several times. Poor Eduardo. I'm still not sure why he would even have been friends with Mark at all. Was there a side to Mark's character that we are never privy to because it's based mostly on the creation of Facebook. Because seriously, I was almost convinced Mark was a sociopath at times.

Also saw Tron: Legacy. I admit, I saw it for purely shallow reasons being Garret Hedlund (part of the reason I want to see Country Song too), and a nostalgic attachment to the original. I found the whole young!Jeff Bridges face thing creepy not innovative, but it wasn't bad. Enjoyable.

Still so many movies to see, especially those nominated for Golden Globes and probably Oscar nominations: The Fighter, 127 Hours (which seems to be playing nowhere around me anymore), Black Swan, the King's Speech, Blue Valentine...too many movies, too little time.

Thank you to everyone who voted for my first line for the Savvy Authors contest. I seem to be in the top thirty, which is what i need to move to the next step. I'm working out the details of that now and may be turning to a few of you for some help, as summaries have never been my forte. If you've read my stories, you probably know that. "There was this girl and she was, like, in love with her best friend, or something."

Again, thank you, guys. I'd really like the opportunity this would give me to focus on my original writing and your help has not gone unnoticed. You rock.

This has been a long, hard week and I'm so glad it's over. But this is a weekend where I must get stuff done. Last weekend I lazed about, which I'm glad for and was probably needed, but there are a few things on my to-do list. One of those things is to catch up on all my fandom fun - reading, writing, reccing, and community stuff. I hope, anyway.

Friday evening is here. Week of hell is over and now I'm in bed on my laptop with Jericho season one on my dvd player. Good times.

Much love to [livejournal.com profile] maygra for running [livejournal.com profile] mini_nanowrimo! I still had four or five days where I didn't get any writing done, but I've been much more productive this month than I had managed in awhile. And more than made my goal of 15,000 words. I wrote 24,565 words this month. Woo-hoo.

Alas, I didn't finish all the Mix & Match drabbles, but they will be coming. And tomorrow begins my holiday drabble-thon throughout the month. Not to mention all the holiday challenges that I always sign myself up for like a crazy person. I think I'm going to aim for 500 words a day for December too - just so I can get through everything I need to do.

But right now, I'm off to try to finish up a beta that needs completion.

Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] hurrigirl!!!

I hope you have a fabulous day!

My goal for this afternoon/evening is to finish up my supernatural crossover fic so it can get beta'd and posted. It needs to be done so I can focus on several other bunnies/stories poking at my brain.

And I haven't forgotten birthday ficlets. This story has just taken over everything when it comes to writing. If I even think about working on something else, my brain whispers, "But you must finish crossover of doom!" And I'm honestly finding that anything else I undertake lately suffers the same problem as this current story - it's really bloody long.

Where has my short muse gone? I think I need to find a community like 15 minute ficlets or something to get back into the habit. But of course, that needs to wait until this story is done.

I do not understand people who don't appreciate Supernatural. I mean, to each his own, but I feel like they are missing out on something by not enjoying it. And I know that makes me weird and a tad bit obsessed (just a tad?), but it's true. I try to get them to watch. I say hot boys, brothers who love each other, banter, hot boys, good stuff...they just don't seem moved.

It's one of the many reasons I love fandom and my friends list. It's a place to find other souls just like me, who get that Supernatural is good stuff and appreciate Sam and Dean.

::stares at mood icon:: Seriously, Jared's smile just makes me happy. I can be having a crappy day and I see his smile I just have to smile too. So adorable.

Remix stories are due tomorrow night and I finally figured out what I want to write. I started a few different things, kept going back and forth on a few stories, and then decided on one, but I sorta talked myself out of it. The idea I had was all about a character that I just can't seem to get a grip on. Honestly, I blame all the amazing writers out there. So many people do that specific character justice and I fear I would just suck.

And I don't want to suck when I'm writing a story for someone else.

Okay, I never want to suck, but sometimes, it happens. I turn into McGhee from NCIS, except I don't shred, just highlight and delete from Word.

But so, I reread this story today on my lunch and suddenly I had an idea.

And it's something I never thought about writing and maybe tackling a huge challenge twenty four hours before it's due isn't my best idea, but I have notes, people. And if I can get the tone down, I think this will be really good.

So pray that I get the tone. It all goes back to that not wanting to suck thing.

**

Between notes on the story and some personal universe writing with [livejournal.com profile] larah33, I totally made my goal of 200 words and then some. Woo-hoo.

Now if only I could cross some of the many things of my fannish to-do list. I would just be so damn happy.

But taxes are done and I have no big plans this weekend (the boy cancelled on me to work - he's so lucky my lazy self can understand love of job) and I'm actually (::fingers crossed::) feeling good...so aside from some errands tomorrow, I want to get a bunch of writing/reading/random things done that I've been putting off.

Because there are a few million things to do and [livejournal.com profile] cricketkate sent me her requests for the three stories for Sweet Charity, so I should at least try to work on one of those.

**

Alrighty, off to try to catch up on friends list as much as I can before Real Time with Bill Maher and then I'll most likely collapse in bed.

Ciao darlings!
