I got my assignment for the [community profile] ante_up_losers Fanworks Exchange and realized I should go write my Dear Creator letter that just had a placeholder. I figured I've read enough fic in this world that maybe it's time to try my hand at it. Also, since I'm trying to complete the 75,000 words this year, I figure having projects with deadlines might help me along with that.   Love some of the prompts I saw on the Dear Creator letter for my recipient so that's good.

I also got my picture for [livejournal.com profile] picfor1000 and excited to write that.  Just need to pic my fandom - what am I feeling everyone?  Ideas?

I went to see Star Wars again with my sister the other day and I still quite enjoy it. That is all I shall say in case people still haven't seen it. Even when we went the other day the theater was still packed.

I also finished Making a Murderer on Netflix because my co-worker kept yelling at me to watch it since I love the Serial podcast. I really shouldn't have watched it because it just made me angry about some of the crap that went down.

thoughts on Making a Murderer - spoilers? )

Oscar nominations are out and I've seen four of the eight already:  Martian (loved), Spotlight (good but depressing as hell), Mad Max (I was so confused - I had never seen any of the other Mad Max movies and my friend insisted I see and Tom Hardy, so sure...but I spent the first half of the movie going "what is going on?"), and the Big Short (I had read the book and the movie does a good job of sort of breaking down the whole thing - it's just depressing because nothing has changed).

I still need to see The Revenant, Room, Brooklyn and Bridge of Spies.

Finally caught back up on Arrow - I forced myself to do it before I could watch the crossover Flash episode so I wouldn't be confused...so I'm caught up on both of those now.  Still behind on Empire and Gotham.   And just waiting (impatiently) for Walking Dead to return.

Currently in my Netflix/Amazon streaming I've been rewatching Stargate Atlantis with the goal to actually make it through the end of season four and five, which I had never finished.  And then I plan to move onto Supernatural.  Last episode I saw was the premiere of Season Eight.   Considering how much I used to love that show, it's kinda sad that I can't always muster up the urge to go back.  But I'm hoping once I do, I'll get sucked in and get through it.  Last time around I had stopped watching at start of season six and then finally decided before season eight to try to get caught up...ended up zipping through the episodes.

Okay, back to work to get done.  Feeling very sore from my workout this morning and contemplating what to do for lunch because I didn't bring anything and this way leads to madness.  I might just run to Whole Foods and grab something.

Seriously, where do my weekends go and how do they pass so fast? I mostly accomplished errands and things I had put off - doing my taxes. Sadly, yesterday morning I watched the movie Bride Wars, not once, but twice, while doing a few other things. It's not even a good movie, but I watch it. I have these weird movies that I didn't particularly like the first time I saw or ever think it's good, but I will watch it repeatedly. One of the many ways I waste a whole lot of time.

We attempted to bathe the baby kitten, Katniss, as we tried to switch her to a covered litter box as she liked to toss her litter everywhere. Well, she seems to be having issues with lifting her tail up enough not to get the poo stuck to her. The bath did not go so well. We found her when she was only like a week or two old outside, but sometimes, the feral in that monster (cute as she is) comes out. And this is one of those moments where, as I clean off my cuts, I wonder why I'm so anti-declawing. OUCH.

They have all of season three of In Plain Sight for view on Verizon On-Demand. I somehow missed the last season, in the midst of other shows and such, so I'm slowly trying to catch up on that. Also, as I said in last post, rewatching season four of BSG. My sister keeps asking me questions that I can't really answer without giving stuff away. My new answer is, "You'll see" or "well..."

Any of you watch the Biggest Loser? Last week's episode...oh red team, what were you thinking? And it was so upsetting because I love both those girls, but I love the one who was able to stay a little more. Still...oh red team. And yeah, I was really hoping Black would fall and Rulon would be gone.

Also, keep seeing previews for this singing show with Carson Daly (oh TRL time of years yonder) and Christina Aguilera. So watching. Because I need more reality television in my mix now that Teen Mom 2's finale aired.

So much television, so little time.

I need to get back to writing things that aren't epic stories that might never see light of day or get finished. So provide me with characters and a first line and I'll write a drabble of sorts.

Let's limit it to these fandoms: Supernatural (less season six), Glee (no Finn or Quinn), Chuck, Castle, Criminal Minds, Veritas, Numb3rs, Haven, Sports Night

I hope everyone who celebrates had a happy holiday! We are currently in the midst of a snow storm here and I'm on vacation from work and trying to take it easy.

Between the holidays and trying to ingest as much fun with [community profile] yuletide as possible, I've been slower on getting caught up on things the way I had hoped to. I loved my story for Yuletide this year. It was Boondock Saints, with an injured-but-stubborn-Murphy and a frustrated-but-overprotective Connor. Just like I asked for and so perfectly in tune with both the boys. It'll definitely be at the top of my recs for [community profile] polyfandomrecs, but in the meantime, Halves .

My recipients seemed to like their stories, which is also very awesome.

And of course, the number of amazing stories and the level of creativity continues to just blow me away.

Now it's time to focus on [community profile] fandom_stocking. If you've signed up and have a quick link to your stocking posting, please leave it here. I plan to go through as many as I possibly can and write something between this evening and January 6th, but I definitely want to get to my friends. I love you guys and don't always get to show it and this is something small I can for you guys.

There are currently six cats under my roof this evening. One of my sorority sisters joked that I was turning into crazy cat lady. Unfortunately, my neighbor's daughter's house had a bad fire last night. She went back in for her cats and took in a lot of smoke. So her daughter is currently at Temple hospital and everyone in their family is either helping our neighbor (who is older, on an oxygen tank and currently suffering with a broken rib) or allergic to cats. And they know how I am with cats and rescuing them...so we're taking care of her two cats until she's released from the hospital. They are very sweet cats, who are a little freaked out (understandable) and my neighbor has done so much for me and my sister since my mother died, so I am currently the home with six cats. Kinda seven if you include the cat outdoors that we take care of (Sidle, we call her, she's Katniss' mom). I think my sorority sister is correct.

I finally saw Social Network Really good movie, even if it made me angry at several times. Poor Eduardo. I'm still not sure why he would even have been friends with Mark at all. Was there a side to Mark's character that we are never privy to because it's based mostly on the creation of Facebook. Because seriously, I was almost convinced Mark was a sociopath at times.

Also saw Tron: Legacy. I admit, I saw it for purely shallow reasons being Garret Hedlund (part of the reason I want to see Country Song too), and a nostalgic attachment to the original. I found the whole young!Jeff Bridges face thing creepy not innovative, but it wasn't bad. Enjoyable.

Still so many movies to see, especially those nominated for Golden Globes and probably Oscar nominations: The Fighter, 127 Hours (which seems to be playing nowhere around me anymore), Black Swan, the King's Speech, Blue Valentine...too many movies, too little time.
tommygirl: (winchester meets halliwell)
GIP, GIP, GIP...much love to Vera because it totally rocks and stuff. It's Winchester meets Halliwell - all my boys in one itty, bitty icon! Now I have to finish the next story in that world, I guess.

The Oscars were okay. Jon Stewart rocked. Loved the smear campaign ad pieces. But there were no real surprises this year in any categories. Though I think Jessica Alba has turned me gay. She looked so freaking good last night. So very good.

Is it still spoilery? Just to be safe... )

So much writing to do. Again, another weekend where I didn't write. In fairness, Terry and the sister dragged me furniture shopping on Saturday so that we could get an idea for what we wanted/needed when we move (Again! Gah!) Then Sunday there was another open house so we have to vacate the premises for the day...and came home just in time for Oscar fun. Really. I just want to have a weekend to myself. Is that too much to ask?
