Thank you to everyone who voted for my first line for the Savvy Authors contest. I seem to be in the top thirty, which is what i need to move to the next step. I'm working out the details of that now and may be turning to a few of you for some help, as summaries have never been my forte. If you've read my stories, you probably know that. "There was this girl and she was, like, in love with her best friend, or something."

Again, thank you, guys. I'd really like the opportunity this would give me to focus on my original writing and your help has not gone unnoticed. You rock.

This has been a long, hard week and I'm so glad it's over. But this is a weekend where I must get stuff done. Last weekend I lazed about, which I'm glad for and was probably needed, but there are a few things on my to-do list. One of those things is to catch up on all my fandom fun - reading, writing, reccing, and community stuff. I hope, anyway.

Happy 1,000th Issue Supernatural Newsletter!!!

Much love and heaps of gratitude to the lovely fans who mod and code and bring us the lovely newsletter every day. I often use it as my go-to resource for what is happening in fandom. I hope you know how much you are appreciated and adored for all your hard work.

::sends Sam and Dean to each of you for a night::

Today's holiday drabble will be posted after work as I'm currently a bit insane with things that must get done.
tommygirl: (Default)
Happy Supernatural Day, my darlings! Tonight's looks to be angstapalooza (based only on the preview - I know no spoilers and would like to keep it that way please) and oh Sammy & Dean! I love them so much! Alas, I might not get to watch the episode until tomorrow because of Flyers hockey, but happy SPN day all the same! I'll probably just skim over any episode reviews tomorrow until I've seen it.

**

I want to thank y'all for the hugs and good thoughts from last night. I'm actually doing a bit better now with the pain killers and such. I'm at work and it's not too bad (though I'm having a hard time focusing on work) so I can't complain. Still a step above the evil pneumonia.

**

Anyone want to throw some prompts at me? I'm having such trouble with my writing lately. I'm not promising anything amazing or profound or very long, but I'll do my best. Though, I will say the schmoopier the prompt the better as that is how my mind works best.

Fandoms: Supernatural, Jared/Jensen RPS, Heroes, Charmed, Roswell, Sports Night, West Wing, Alias
tommygirl: (supernatural - boys in tuxes)
Thanks for the good work thoughts. Things are just...not good...right now and I'm not sure what to do. I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason and that karma comes around. I am clinging to these things.

But now I shall focus on happy, good things. Because I miss happy, good things.

1.

These boys always make me happy and they love each other so much and just...oh, there is never enough Jared/Jensen or Sam/Dean schmoop in the world but y'all provide me with great amounts of it!

2. All of you because you rock and you offer encouragement and you're just awesome. I love you all. I really do.

3. Army Wives is coming out on dvd in June. It's the lifetime series that has Drew Fuller as the perfect husband and has Gordon from SPN as the one guy "army wife" in the group and features some interesting characters. Plus, did I mention Drew Fuller?

4. I'm a tad bit behind on my Supernatural reading, but I highly recommend [livejournal.com profile] pheebs1's Supernatural version of PS I Love You. It's Sam/Dean and it's sad and wonderful and just the end is so perfect.

5. I'm mailing my check for [livejournal.com profile] winchestercon tomorrow! And I'm totally going to get [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 (And Mylia!!!) to come hang out with me there. And I can't wait to see some of you again and to meet even more of you...because it was so much fun.
tommygirl: (matrix)
Today has been spent watching lots of movies. I even pulled out my copy of Man in the Moon (Reese Witherspoon one, not Jim Carey), which made the boy roll his eyes and mutter something about having been forced to watch this fifty or so times before.

I have all these ideas in my head for things to write, but I can't seem to focus on any one in particular. And maybe I should just put all my energy into finally finishing up Winchester Meets Halliwell before [livejournal.com profile] ladybug218 goes and has another birthday on me (she's already accepted the likelihood of this outcome).

I start to read fic because I have a ton bookmarked, but then I feel guilty because I should be writing and my brain has bunnies 'o doom. But gah.

It's a vicious circle. And when I try to explain it to family and the boy, they think I'm just crazy. Which is possible.

Anyway, have watched:

- Sicko - I really think that everyone in the United States should see this movie. I don't care what you think of Michael Moore or his beliefs, but health care is a very real problem. And these people who lost everything were regular, hardworking Americans, who got sick and couldn't afford care. And then you see in contrast how other countries get it right. And this is why I have a Canadian wifey on the side in [livejournal.com profile] larah33.

- To Die in Jerusalem - I tivo'd this on HBO and it's a documentary about a Palestinian suicide bomber who killed a teenage girl in a supermarket. It was very interesting and upsetting and it's sad that at the end, when the two mothers are talking, they just can't understand where the other is coming from. You have the Palestinian mother who can't denounce what her daughter did, even if it wasn't something she wanted, because they live in oppression and they must resist that. And then you have the Isreali mother who just wants the violence to stop so that other mothers don't lose their children for nothing.

- American Dreamz - This movie made me laugh. Obvious satire of the current administration and the way America makes certain things so very important that really don't matter. Now I just keep saying, "You've been Omarized!"

- Man in the Moon - I love this movie. I never tire of this movie.

I really am grateful to the friends that I have on livejournal and to the fortunate experience I've been able to cultivate for myself. I will never understand the love of wank and drama. Life is enough of a hassle for me most days. This is where I come to escape. So thank you to you guys for being lovely and wonderful and rather drama-free folks.

1) Sometimes I think my trainer is trying to kill me. He's so lucky he's hot, my friends, otherwise I'm not sure I could tolerate his abuse masqueraded as "helping me achieve fitness goals."

2) [livejournal.com profile] tvm and I think everyone should take to writing lots of Andy/Sam/Dean where Andy has gone on the road with our favorite boys - gen or slash. We want it all as long as it's happy.

Some ideas:

- Sam annoyed that he has to drive with Andy and Dean high in the backseat of the Impala.
- Sam jealous of Andy and Dean's easy relationship.
- Andy using his abilities to help them on a case...

Think about it, my friends. What's better than good fic EXCEPT making me and [livejournal.com profile] tvm happy? Hee.

3) To those who rec stories: Ever stumble upon a story that you liked, but aren't sure you can rec because of certain issues with it. Because I'll let certain things go sometimes if I enjoy a story, but I begin to wonder if it's rec-worthy when some of the bad things I would warn about start to make it seem like, "Was she smoking crack?" And while I see nothing wrong with pointing out a few of my issues with a story when I rec it, I don't want an author to stumble upon my rec and be like, "What a bitch!" I just don't know what to do, but I'm thinking I'm might not rec it this round.

4) I still want the schmoop. Sam/Dean is preferable, but seriously, at this point...you guys know my fandoms, I need schmoop! Lots of schmoop! No one wants my kink!cliche fic to turn into really bad fic. So save yourselves and rec me!

5) Finally, to anonymous for the virtual rose. Thank you so much. It totally made my day yesterday (and it was a very crappy one). ::huggles you::
tommygirl: (alias - syd)
Happy Supernatural Day!!! I hope tonight's episode is some fun stuff. I love the angst and woe, but sometimes episodes like Hell House just make me happy for the boys. Gah.

Again, I just want to say how much I love you all and how wonderful you make the fandom experience and I'm so glad to get to know all of you. Please know that if you ever need anything - something as simple as someone to vent to or a ficlet to make you smile - I'm always here anyway that I can.

Thank you so much to anonymous for the virtual gift! And to everyone who said such nice words about me at [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's Valentine Game - wow, thank you. It made me smile and feel loved. And how awesome was Madelyn to run this thing? And how amazing is it that so many people participated and so many people got love? There can be drama and craziness on these here internets, but there is a helluva lot of good to make up for it!

And before I sound to much like Pollyanna that I have to kill myself, let's move on...and just squee over the amounts of awesome Schmoop fic that the SPN fandom produced yesterday. I'm a very bad girl who took a Valentine's prompt and didn't finish her story on time. Yeah, it's the story of my life lately and someone needs to kick my butt into gear.

I have so much to do and no idea where to even start. I hate feeling like that. Here's to hoping I can get through a few lists of things fairly easily and move on.

Ciao.

Where the heck did this day go so fast? And it's not even eight pm and I'm so damn tired. Stupid weather and sinuses.

I started watching Entourage season two dvds again. Good god, this show is crack. I'm like, "I'll just watch one episode while I defrost" and next thing I know I'm through disc one and ready to start the next one. If Vince wasn't totally in love with Eric, I'd totally try to marry the boy.

Much love to [livejournal.com profile] amy_star_ for the virtual chocolates. i lova ya, hon, and they totally made me smile today. Thank you so much!

So I thought "lazy" was my favorite mood, but this one...yeah, I don't think Dean's sleeping down there.
tommygirl: (heroes - nathan & peter)
Thank you to everyone who has sent me a card thus far. I love the cards and they are hanging along my book case in the living room. 'Tis the only thing that's really making me feel like the holiday season is upon me. Otherwise, I currenly feel like the grinch.

Dear Honda,

You are evil and have taken all my money. Damn you and your 30,000 mile check ups. But now Kay is ready for winter and her upcoming inspection in February.

But I still think you're evil.

No love,

Tommygirl

We are now up to season five with the mother on Gilmore Girls. She's addicted, people. We watch an episode and then she gives me this puppy dog look and says, "What? No more?" Fun times. My sister and I have created a GG monster. Season four was actually not so bad on viewing it again, which I haven't done since it aired. Rory still annoyed me, but not quite as badly. And i'm sorry...as much as I love JP now (GAH), he was still a big 'ole goob on Gilmore Girls. Sammy rules so much more and I bet it's 'cause he had a cool papa and brother.

**

No writing accomplished today. I didn't even get to peruse livejournal today. Work = busy before I leave for vacation. Fun times. Tonight, I'm going to try to do something fannish, writing or recs, but knowing myself, my sister and I will probably hang out and rewatch Heroes or something.

But for now, I'm going to grab some dinner and catch up on friends list.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (dean winchester/tru davies 1)
To whoever listed me at the holiday anonymous love meme and to everyone who commented, thank you so much. ::huggles friends list:: I wasn't really expecting it, so thank you for making my boring friday at work that much brighter.

And much love to [livejournal.com profile] cloex_brosluvr for the pretty icons! Look guys, it's Dean and Tru Davies! Dude, how awesome is that? Now I want to write some Dean/Tru fic. Must wait, must wait.

The Supernatural Friday Five... )

**

So, my friends, should I write this evening or should I read some of the many bookmarks of fanfiction I have on my computer? I should write, I know, but guess what I'll probably end up doing?

Tomorrow I get to see Happy Feet with my little bit. Woo-hoo.

Ciao darlings!
tommygirl: (jensen & jared 3)
I just got home to the most awesome thing ever.

Dear [livejournal.com profile] wendy (aka Secret Santa):

You are most awesome and thank you so much for the fun stuff, the dvds, and the lovely note. I've loved getting to know you over the past few months and I couldn't have asked for a better secret santa. You seriously rock the casbah, darling.

I love it.

Love,

Mare (aka Tommygirl)

Now I must get my package out in the mail. I just picked up one of the pieces today on my lunch (as they had to order it for me), so now I can get it all wrapped up and ready to go. Woo-hoo. I'm so glad I was able to participate in Mad's Secret Santa exchange this year. It's so much fun. Now here's to hoping my recipient likes what I picked out!

But yes, thank you again, Wendy!

Happy Gobble, Gobble Day! Well, if you celebrate anyway. Otherwise, I hope it was a happy day full of fun.

My day was wonderfully lazy and full of a lot of food, the way the very best Thanksgivings are. This year, it was just me, the mother, the sister, and the boy came down. So it's been fabulously lazy and I just wore sweats and my sister and I got the boy hooked on Heroes (because without me, he would only ever watch hockey or baseball games).

Of course, the boy and I proceed to have this conversation:

"So which boys do you want to see make out with each other on this show?"

"I haven't really thought about it."

"You haven't thought about it? I thought that was all you thought about, how to get hot boys to make out."

"When you say it like that, I sound perverse."

"You write incest sex. You *are* perverse."

(can't really deny it) "Well, I guess Mohinder and Isaac could be hot?"

Yes, it was a truly lovely day. I am now going to read some fanfic to make the day better while the boy and the sister play Splinter Cell.

In the spirit of the holiday, things I'm thankful for:

-my mom who drives me crazy like no other and votes Republican, but she is an awesome mom
-my sissy, my best friend in all the world
-my little bit, Ellen, who is the cutest seven-year old in all the world
-the rest of my nieces and nephews aren't too bad, especially my nephew who just turned eighteen and laughed when I sent him money for "smokes and porn"
-my brothers are okay because they gave me wonderful nieces and nephews
-my friends
-all of you are wonderful people and make the fannish experience so great.
-the boy, of course, who constantly surprises me and makes me realize this relationship stuff isn't so bad
-Last but not least, that I have a job, a roof over my head, and things like health insurance that so many people don't have.

Okay, yes, going to go read some. Tomorrow I have been convinced to brave a few of the stores early in the morning like an insane person. I'm likely to kill people if they drive me crazy.

Ciao darlings!
